    • Rising to the occasion was a noble decision, but Shuren was no witcher, no magician capable of undoing something that had been set in stone. However, he was a healer, more in the apparent than spiritual sense, but among all of that, his expertise was still getting what he wanted, even if it meant that his approach wouldn't be a calm and calculated one, but quite a brutal an unsanitary one. Surely, killing Richard was of no benefit to him right now, but as long as he proved useful, there was no need to look into something like that or even consider it. Keeping him at an arms length was fine right now, just as it was something that Shuren could deal with. "You aren't, feel free to cast your worries aside." And even if he were, it was rude to admit to the obvious, a fact that had been drilled into his skull by a father long gone, by a life stolen away with his own two hands - Shuren never cared much, as long as it had benefitted him in some grotesque way and this, too, was no different than picking and choosing his cards carefully before he'd eventually come to the ungrateful realization that he couldn't control every situation he found himself in; it seemed stupid to even think about and truly, it was. "If something like that troubles you, you can feel free to talk to me. You are not and never will be a burden to anyone in Silesse, trust me." Unlike Silesse, the King of Adrestia seemed to have different ideas. Not only was he neckdeep into sowing his own seeds of chaos, he also cast aside his brother, the rightful heir to a, theoretically, unclaimed throne - maybe Shuren wanted it, maybe he didn't, in the end, however, he'd much rather wipe Lucien off the face of the earth, to come out on top of a competition that he himself had started.

"I'm glad to hear that, then. It seems you two get along exceptionally well again ... his memory loss hasn't affected your relationship, has it?", Shuren prodded, hoping to find out more about something he knew everything about. But even then, it was just childlike curiousity that made him speak the weirdest of things aloud and reminded him that, no matter what, he was welcome to ask questions, that pushing boundaries was one thing, but knowing them another. This world itself was something one had to shape, and if Shuren was the one to do it, he might as well do it with all he knew. "Dosages are adjustable, but we'd have to figure out what works for you. I don't want you to get hurt by something that's supposed to help.", he remarked, shaking his head as he watched the fingers fiddle with the patch of lavender he'd handed Richard, something he gleefully accepted. A smile found its way on the usually stoic face, and while he wasn't sure if Richard was still looking at him, Shuren wasn't going to let any opportunity slide. "Hm, I figured as much. I could try and prepare something for you in smaller dosages, if you want me to? It might take a few days, depending on whatever or not I have all ingredients. If you want to take it, you can - and if you don't want to, that's fine too ... but while we're on the topic, do any of your scars hurt? Is there any other kind of pain?" First and foremost, Shuren was a medic, in a way. However, second of all, he was insane, and third of all, a wanning king with an ulterior motive. "Now now, it's alright. If something troubles you, something you can't talk about with Yujin, you can confide in me, yes? I can provide you with an unbiased opinion, if you'd like. Or is there something else you wish to know? Feel free to ask.", and with that, Shuren procured another piece of fabric from his sleeves, it was a rather thin one, but still intricate, though, it matched Shurens clothing this time. "Use this, no need to wet your sleeves."

    • Shuren continued to be nice and Richard wanted to believe him. He didn't feel save at home, but he wanted to feel save somewhere. When Yujin was with him he did and Richard didn't want to keep in the back of his mind that Shuren might nit have the best intentions. He didn't want to be scared here too and thus he lowered his guard quite intentionally as he looked at the man that seemingly did so much for him. Back when hr was here the first time it was quite different, Richard was sure he caused a lot of trouble, but now it was different wasn't it? Yujin had already broken up with his girlfriend and Richard was much more calm and composed. "Yujin seems to remember his feelings for me...", Richard nodded carefully, looking at the reaction he got from Shuren, just to figure out if he truly didn't have anything against his and Yujins relationship. What even was their relationship? Richaed didn't know, not at all and he was scared to put it into words, because he was sure Yujin and him had differing opinions.

"I suppose... We could try... ", Richard slowly answered, but he was most definetly still unsure about all of this. Yujin would be mad if he knew and Richard wasn't sure how to hide any memory loss that might happen. "My scars...?", Richard reiterated and shook his head right after. "No... On my back I don't feel much and sometimes I... When I move sometimes it seems as if my skin is not flexible enough but... It doesn't hurt. Only this one..." He put his hand on his neck on which he wore one of his neckerchiefs as usual. It didn't hurt constantly either and it was old compared to the rest, but he still noticed a sting sometimes, when he moved his head too fast too far or wanted to use a bow, even though the latter hadn't happened for quite s while. He put his hand away and looked up at Shuren again, pondering if he should truly disclose more, he decided to for some reason. "I don't want Yujin to be stuck in this room with me...", he admitted, slowly taking the fabric he was offered but he didn't need to use it right away.

    • Dawdling on idle chitchat hadn't been what Shuren intended; after all, he had plenty of things to do, something that he couldn't just hark off to anyone else and something he didn't want someone else to be involved in. Sure, death was right around the corner with silessian family traditions, but the thought alone, of being ungracefully impaled upon a sword that had slayed beasts of the wild and nothing else disgusted him, so much in fact, that he had killed off the tradition itself, like many others, but even then, that didn't stop his children from making an attempt at each others life. They were mindless and stupid, or rather Shuren wanted to declare them as such, and therefore, it didn't matter too much. Upon hearing Richards gawking, his face didn't move much, but it seemed to surprise him deep within - medicine was only able to do so much for people taking it, but the fact that someone that shouldn't think too much about anything and cried seas of salty tears over someone he never was supposed to love - someone that annoyed Shuren even when he wasn't there - Yujin held onto something that he shouldn't have experienced in the first place. What a damn brat. "It's not too much on you, is it? I mean, I don't want to insert myself into your relationship, but I'm also in charge of your well-being. He's not too ... pushy, is he?", Shuren asked eventually. Yujin was someone that could even make him lose his mind, not in the best of ways, and in reality, his only son was somehow the worst and most unruly of his children, almost as if he'd come after Muhan just a tad bit too much - something that was impossible, one way or the other. However, those stupid blue eyes of his were proof enough of his heritage and another thorn in Shurens side. But even then, this was hardly about a child asking for something it couldn't have - it was about an idiot, acting out of line over and over again, despite his fathers attempts and wishes to keep him somewhere safe.

"You don't need to make your mind up right on the spot. I'll get a batch of it for you, if you'd like to try it, I'd be happy to provide you with more if you need it, if not, that's fine, too." In this case, there wasn't much of an ulterior motive attached to the decisions he was making and frankly, it only proved to him that, deep down, maybe he was actually capable of being nice to someone - but then again, wasn't he only doing this for his own personal gain. Truthfully, it was weird. "Hm, sounds like typical scar tissue. If you'd like, I can give you an ointment for the scars on your back, as for your neck, however." Shuren couldn't help but gawk at the vibrant piece of fabric that obscured Richards throat and the scar it concealed beneath; he'd seen it only once, when it was a disgusting, burned wound - he'd wanted to chew Nayantai out for it, for handling it with such little care, but Shuren knew better than that, had seen the worry on his face and the pain in his tired eyes and he tried to fix what was fixable. Of course it was fucked up now, he wasn't a wizard capable of producing incredible results, especially not with shoddy work in the foreground. "Ointment won't help with the one on your neck, unfortunately, it's almost too years old at this point." Shuren shook his head, adamantly. "I'd like to see if I can do something regardless, but it doesn't need to be now. Would you mind paying me a visit whenever you feel like it? My study should be a better place for something like that." And it had better lightning, but no warming fire. In truth, Shuren could care less, but even then, he wanted to care for just a bit to win Richard over, or at least make an attempt. It only served his brother right that he'd feel more at peace here, far away from two lunatics ruling a crumbling country and spitting on the former kings legacy. Upon hearing those words, Shuren smiled - now this was getting them somewhere. "He's a bit too old to be kept away with classes, and I fear that he won't benefit from them.", he admitted and it was true. Having him learn something he'd forget soon enough was torture, but it also was an initiative to get Yujin to take his medication again, the one he cast aside and that would cause him trouble sooner or later, whenever his leg was acting up once more and then, he'd better not admit to it, or else ... no, it didn't matter. "I'll see to it that I'll get him to go out more, if that's what you had in mind? Speaking of that, though, how do you feel about going out? Not too good, I presume? I saw you in the courtyard earlier, how did you feel there?"
Looking back, it maybe is like the toy carts you rode when you were a kid. But those toy carts could never go beyond the walls of the lawn. We want to follow the rugged concrete road beyond the wall. As we've grown, we've decided to leave behind the toy cart.
    • Shuren sounded incredibly nice, yet his words were piercing and Richard should have noticed that. He didn't. Or maybe he did, but he didn't want to know it. How many people under whoms roofs Richard was locked up would betray him in the end? Though in Nayantais case, it hadn't been his fault and yet, who could Richard trust? When he grew up he was taught to be cautious, Rain never wanted him to be suspicious of everyone around him, they never told him bluntly, but still he learned that as the future king he had to be careful, because so many people wanted a piece of that cake. Much as Lucien used Dayan for exactly the same reason, Dayan who never was taught those things, because he wasn't supposed to be king in the first place. Richards only saving grace in a world full of snakes that wanted to rule instead of him had always been Dayan. Dayan was there, by his side, maybe he would have left for adventures, but he would have come back and would always only want the best for Richard. That wasn't true anymore. He assumed the throne and he sent his brother whom he should protect away, far far away into an icy country he himself had never been to. Richard felt better here, but without Dayan, losing him once more, he felt lost.

Yujin assumed his brothers place now, not as a companion and friend, he was more, that one was for certain, but he assumed this position as a person Richard knew he could trust. Someone that was on his side and wanted only the best for him. Someone that would give his own life for Richard, even if he didn't want that to begin with. Shuren would never be like that too, but he seemed genuine at least a little bit and he hadn't hurt Richard once. "N-no... I'd want him here all the time, but... I just don't want him to miss out.", Richard admitted and it was hard to get Yujin to leave. At least he did something on his own right now. Regarding the medicine Richard nodded, he still wasn't sure if he wanted to take it, but today proved that he didn't get better and facing what had happened didn't help him, forgetting seemed like the better option. Then again he wanted to learn how to read and speak the Silessian accent, he could probably forget about that and also forget about helping Yujin remember, if he chose to take that medicine. Maybe just to gain a bit more strength at least? To be able to hold a sword again? If he felt saver, maybe the rest would come to him too. Richard looked up again and listened to the explanation about his scars. Richard nodded, even though he wasn't sure about wandering to Shurens study by himself at some point. Yujin wanted him to go there for something else too, didn't he? "I uh... I don't mean to take too much of your time, Yujin wanted me to ask about something else though. I... I don't know how much you know about my heart condition...? I didn't have any problems with it since I came here, but it is probably only a matter of time..." Richard bit his lip, he was asking too much. "It is not important though.", he closed and shook his head in an apologetic way. He rather focused on Yujin again. "I'd like him to go out... meet his friends... I can be alone for a while.", he agreed, even though he wasn't sure how exactly Shuren would bring Yujin to comply with an idea he didn't want to listen to. As for Richard himself... "The courtyard is fine... ", Richard answered averting his gaze. "I don't feel save outside of the castle. I... know that Adrestians can't come here, much less fight, but... but still." He wouldn't be surprised if Ares wouldn't be faced by the cold at all. He was a monster, unhuman...
    • Keeping Richard company sounded like a sweet thing to do, sure, but it wasn't within his jurisdiction and honestly nothing he wanted to spend his entire day with. Yujin and Muhan were different, they were sorry saps smitten by a sobstory that was, albeit tragic, nothing that hurt someone like Shuren at a core level - he didn't owe Nayantai anything, at least he thought of it as such, but he owed Rain respect, at the very least, if not his life, and as painfully obvious as it was, it had extended to the only one of his children that Shuren knew. "And you don't feel like going out with him just yet, did I understand that right?" Sure, there was nothing else he could've meant, but Shuren still wasn't sure what to do with Richards and Yujins relationship. For now, for the sake of mending the broken bundle of pain in front of his very eyes, he didn't want to say anything, wasn't sure if Yujin hadn't already admitted to the truth, but even if he hadn't, he'd gain nothing from uncovering an obvious lie. In truth, he probably would be alright with their relationship if he gained something from it, but as things were, he'd rather send Yujin away eventually, out of sight and out of mind, to gain something he deemed crucial - like hell he cared about Yin, or her clan, or anything else. Yujin was a pawn, much like Richard, but they served different purposes in Shurens ploy. "Would you like me to talk to him or do you want to make an attempt yourself?" Aside from Richard, Shuren wasn't fond of Quan either, for the obvious reasons that he knew too much - he had no family that would get in his way if he suddenly disappeared, but souring his relationship with his other son was out of question to Shuren. In truth, he wished for all of them to be as simple-minded as Fei, who probably thought more about pretty flowers and clothing, or cute, small animals than any kind of personal relationship - which came with being hardly over the age of ten. "No, no, it's fine. I'm not terribly busy right now, and Silesse can govern itself for an hour or so, don't worry too much." It couldn't and Muhan had brick for brains, something that Shuren had noticed when he was bestowed his homeland as a wedding gift - a homeland that was governed by him, too, in theory, but the people didn't fancy his presence much and often times, all of it happened in the shadows.

They were unruly too, a speck of dirt on his perfect world, much like Adrestia was. Much like Richard could be. "Nayantai told me when you came here, in case I could help. It seems to be different from what Rain was experiencing, but I didn't get to testing anything so far, mainly because ... well, we haven't interacted much. And I lack some details, to be precise.", he admitted, his expression suddenly lost in thought. Ah, this sounded like something interesting indeed. "It is very important. I suppose it hasn't cause you serious harm by now, but it might at some point, so I want to make sure to prevent that." In Rain's case, everything could be a trigger, but extensive stress was a good chunk of it. Shuren, however, knew no instances of Richard passing out at this point in time and it wasn't his job to prod too much in open wounds, no. Medics were there to heal people, and therefore, he should follow their codex, but alas, he wasn't one of them and his fingers were dirtied by blood and poison. "I suppose it doesn't happen on the regular, but what symptoms do you experience? Shortness of breath? Any concentrated pain or otherwise weird feeling? I'll say upfront that ... it's probably not entirely fixable, but it might be preventable and improve the condition at least a bit. We shouldn't rush headfirst into thousands of medications tho, this matter is most delicate.", he nodded, approving of his own words, rather than Richards worried expression - he still smiled, warm and kind and understanding, like he was aware of all that was happening and could foster some sort of sympathy for him in his own wretched and blackened heart that had never thawed for anyone. "An afternoon, twice a week - how's that sound? And while he's out, you can focus on ... hm, do you have something to do or would you like something?" Maybe that would help, and now that Shuren thought about it, maybe ... no, that was too much upfront and in reality, he wasn't even sure if he wanted that. "Your fear of the adrestians is not unfounded. You got hurt, it's fine, it's a trauma response, trust me. Yujin was the same, he loathed the outside, even the courtyard, so that's a big step on it's own - I'm proud of you.", Shuren chuckled, warmly smiling at Richard. Adrestians, huh? So that's how he saw them, what a pleasant surprise. "Is there anything I can do for you to make you feel more at home and secure?"
Looking back, it maybe is like the toy carts you rode when you were a kid. But those toy carts could never go beyond the walls of the lawn. We want to follow the rugged concrete road beyond the wall. As we've grown, we've decided to leave behind the toy cart.
    • "I... don't want to leave the castle.", Richard nodded and grabbed the bundle in his hands a bit stronger, as if it would help him to keep himself together. "I don't know how much my brother has told you about what had happened...", he then started but he didn't elaborate further if it wasn't necessary. Ares was after Richards head and he probably was just as bad as his father, only maybe a tad bit dumber. The only saving grace seemed to be that Lucien and him didn't work together, in fact they most likely worked against each other, which hopefully kept them at bay. Still, for Olettians family was everything, it was more important than their people, more important than survival maybe even, if it only meant that their line would continue. Ares thought Richard destroyed that family, at least killed his father and maybe got rid of the binds that kept Lucien in line, or something like that. It hadn't been him, but he would have killed him, he planned to, he was close to it, but he failed and it cost him much more than he anticipated. Ares was strong. Too strong and Richard didn't want to face him again. He much rather stayed in here, in this castle, surrounded by ice, by cold unbearing weather, by guards and with Yujin who gave him a different feeling of safety, even though it was selfish to rely on him. "He told me he rather spends time with me...", Richard answered Shuren. He already tried to make Yujin live his life, but he refused. Richard looked up at Shuren, still apologetic about so many things. About Yujin and about wasting his time with his stupid problems.

At least Shuren seemed interested in Richards condition, because his expression shifted and he seemed to talk to himself rather than to Richard. He was right, Richards father had been different and his grandfather had no problems of that sort, it seemed to have skipped a generation. "Every other month maybe. It usually starts with the fingers in my left hand getting numb, then I feel pain in my arm and chest. I usually have enough time to leave the room, lie down, or get off of a horse or something like that. There were times I didn't notice soon enough, but not many. Then I get dizzy, my vision gets blurry and dark and then I pass out. Usually it only takes a view minutes for me to wake up again, but there were also times it took a lot longer. Afterwards I feel like I ran miles. I am beat and tired.", Richard explained his symptoms, or at least the ones he noticed for himself. He didn't know what happened when he passed out, but from what he heard it was impossible to wake him up for a while, sometimes he stopped breathing for a view seconds, but not long enough for it to be damaging. "Oh I have something to do. I started writing down what happened, it helps me order my thoughts. I also wanted to learn how to read Thrian... Yujin insisted on helping me with that though. Silessian accent too, I searched for things to occupy me a bit."
    • "Nobody is forcing you, one step at a time. Take it easy. You're welcome here, as long as you'd like to stay.", he advised Richard and he hoped that at least one idiot would take advice like that to his heart - Richard seemed like he knew how to behave by now, but silence also reigned his life after losing his rights to the coveted throne of Adrestia, something he had been born and raised for, yet, failed to realize because of a plethora of questionable factors. Shuren would be mean to not give him back what he missed out upon, but in reality, he just wanted a slice of the cake for himself, as he should be getting and as was hist just dessert. "I don't know too much and I don't want to pry. If you feel confident enough to talk about, I'd be more than happy to listen, but do not force yourself and make everything worse than it is. I suppose it's still fresh in your memory, there's no need to hurt yourself even more." A short nod followed. Dayan and Lucien played coy with the details, but Shuren wasn't stupid and figured that what Richard had experienced was nothing short of somewhat ancient torture, and some bastards idea of claiming the throne for himself - if Richard had simply stayed put, Shuren would have gotten to it first, but like this, broken and pliant, it was easier to mold him into something he wasn't before, something influenced by his own ideal and beliefs. "Then he means it. I'm sure while you don't want him to miss out on something, he also shares that sentiment - he'd rather have fun with you than fun without you. But I'll talk to him."

Shuren wasn't sure if it would help, given his own sons bone-headedness, but even then, the world didn't stop, it stopped for no one and Richard had to get a tad bit better to be someone he no longer was. If Dayan was satisfied with the work he did, maybe he'd reward Shuren accordingly, and while he didn't need any dingy and measily tokens of appreciation, he liked power and would do just about anything for it, even if it mean he had to expand his own resources and get into someones head, someone who, all things considered, wasn't worth the effort it seemed. "Hm, so you always pass out? No shortness of breath?" It sounded different from what Rain was experiencing and maybe those silessian genes helped Richard cope with the cold that would have killed his late father, but even then, it still meant he was at his most vulnerable when he was defenseless, simply called forth by his heart giving up on him, wasn't it that? Shuren could discern as much right now, but nothing more. "Does it happen in certain situations or is it at random? For your father, it was stress that took him out, but from what you are telling me, that's not always the trigger it seems? How peculiar." Shuren took everything in, the naught effort of holding onto the fabric from earlier to calm himself and the uncertainty in Richards eyes that reminded him so much of his own, that were just like they were supposed to be, not like ... no, nevermind. "I'll try to see if I have any records of that in the library and if I find something, I'll let you know. As for the rest ... you should study hard, then. Thrian can be a pain to learn, but if you got that down, silessian is not too bad. In fact, take it from someone that doesn't know much adrestian: I'd rather not learn it. But I'm glad you're putting in the effort ... oh, also, your tea. I think it will get cold soon."
Looking back, it maybe is like the toy carts you rode when you were a kid. But those toy carts could never go beyond the walls of the lawn. We want to follow the rugged concrete road beyond the wall. As we've grown, we've decided to leave behind the toy cart.
    • Richard wanted to go outside at some point but at the same time he didn't want to be accompanied by guards or Yujins father just to feel save. When he went outside he wanted it to be on his own, yet as of now that seemed quite impossible. Maybe if he took what he was offered he could face his fears without being scared much at all and when he was outside and let his memories come back, maybe he realized that it wasn't that scary after all. What hypocrite was he though when he told Yujin he should stop taking that stupid medicine, so he felt better, because not remembering was the worst and then he did the same, unable to remember for both of them even though he had promised. But even now he felt those shadows linger and grasping at him, as he couldn't stop his mind from connecting Aramis kindness to Shurens. He forced himself to trust him, he wanted to trust him and told himself that any suspicion was just paranoia that came with his experiences. Richard nodded at Shuren, he truly didn't want to talk about what happened with him, even though he felt like Shuren should know who Ares was and that he might knock at his door at some point. Who knew? "There is someone after my head... I thought you should know...", he mumbled therefor, hoping that Dayan at least disclosed that. He wasn't sure what Dayan and Lucien even knew of Shuren, or if they just sent Richard here because they didn't have any other option.

Richard found is surprising and strange that Shuren would want Yujin in here if it was what Yujin wished for and he was right. Yujin was the one who should decide where he spent his time and Richard liked having him around. Right now he just wanted to lie down with him and close his eyes for a bit. The lack of sleep and fighting his memories every waking hour was exhausting. "I was told I stopped breathing when I passed out before, but other than that I have no trouble breathing.", he explained his condition further. "I had moments of stress when it happens, but it also happened during just eating dinner, or by taking a walk outside. Other stressful situations posed no problem either." Richard knew that his father had been different and his grand-grand-aunt too, from what he had heard. it had been much worse for them too, Richard was able to climb mountains, or wrestle with his father without a problem and even though he always felt cold in Silesse, he didn't get sick because of it. Richard nodded at Shuren again, it truly wasn't much of a problem, after all he experienced it only every once in a while and as long as he spent his days inside the castle, there was nothing much that could happen to him. Then Richard looked at the tea Shuren brought. "Oh. Yes. I'm sorry.", he mumbled sorry that Shuren brought this for him and Richard didn't even touch it yet. So he took the cup into his hands to drink a bit.
    • Shuren knew well enough that pushing wasn't a good way to deal with someone that had lost much more than everything and that couldn't help himself, lest he'd find himself in a hole what, with all things considered, was just another cave for him to fall into and lose more of his apparent self. No, nothing of that should happen, but Shuren knew Richards concerns and he knew that, for the lack of a better word, he was terrified. "I'm aware.", he spoke, silently and softly. "And I'll not let him get anywhere near you, let alone into Thria. You have my word." And even if Ares found his way onto their doorstep and into the castle, Shuren didn't want a maggot like that crawling within his walls and besmirching is reputation with wretched blood, which was why he devised plan after plan already, even though it was just paranoia seeping into his already brittle bones - Shuren wasn't getting old, he was merely telling himself that he'd fail at some point and he was delusional, he was a god after all, or at least destined to become something grander than that. Deluding himself, however, wasn't a good way to go out and while gods didn't roam the plane of the living, he was destined for greatness - and Richard could bring him all of that, right to his doorstep. "I know telling you not to worry is the wrong approach, but you're save here. Nobody will come for you as long as you stay in Silesse." Even if it was a monster, Richard faced the worst of them right now and said monster was growing somewhat fond of him at this point.

"You stopped breathing entirely? That's not good. I'll prioritize my research, then. It should be fine as long as someone has a close eye on you, but I'm sure you value your own freedom over constant observation." Discreetly placing a servant in front of this door wouldn't harm anyone and it would help Shuren with understanding their continued relationship, but if he was frank, for now, it wasn't any of his concern and for better or for worse, it seemed like Richard was feasting on the scraps in his hands, the ones that he handed over without much of a fight, and as such, there hardly was anything for him to contemplate over or overthink about. "It seems very unpredictable then, and not directly tied to emotion or something along those lines. I'll look into it and I'll let you know once I've found something, is that alright?" There it was, and with as far as he had pushed RIchard now, during their little conversation, he was certain to at least gain something from it. There, however, was silence that didn't elude Shuren himself and while Richard sipped on his tea, he looked at him and his strained expressions, at his unwillingness to move from the spot and the tiredness that had made itself apparent all over the blondes face. "No need to be." There never was, not like this. "I recommend you get some rest after this. If you don't have any further questions, I'd take my leave now."
Looking back, it maybe is like the toy carts you rode when you were a kid. But those toy carts could never go beyond the walls of the lawn. We want to follow the rugged concrete road beyond the wall. As we've grown, we've decided to leave behind the toy cart.
    • Richard looked up at Shuren, almost as a child that wanted to believe a fantasy story about a hero and a princess in which everything turned out well. Richard wasn't a child and he knew that happy ends were hard to come by or needed sacrifice to get there, a lot of sacrifices. None of his family members ever had it easy and he was stupid to think that he would live a happy life as king of Adrestia. Still, he wanted to believe Shurens words, that he kept Ares away and he'd never touch him. Richard wasn't sure if Dayan did the same or if he relied on Shuren for that. Richard carefully nodded, as a sign that he heard him, even though he still felt unsave, even now, always, but it was alright as long as he didn't need to go outside. He didn't know how to properly thank Shuren for what he did. For helping Richard at least physically feel better, for caring about his well being, for letting him stay here and for protecting him. He didn't know what Dayan promised for that or if Shuren did this because Nayantai and Rain were his friends, either way Richard was grateful.

"It was only for a few seconds is what they told me.", Richard added, he didn't want Shuren to work too hard on this, he probably had better things to do. "I live with this since I was born, please don't worry too much." Naturally when he was younger this was a lot more scary to his family, but while it was annoying at times and dangerous at others, it was something he learned to live with. As long as he was in the castle and not out there hunting or climbing a cliff, nothing much would happen to him next to maybe a few bruises if he didn't lie down fast enough. Richard nodded once more, still feeling bad about the work he bestowed upon Shuren. "Thank you.", he added, lowering his head for a moment. Shuren got enough information as it seemed and Richard agreed to rest a bit. He didn't get far with his little project, but if he wanted to learn Thrian with Yujin afterwards, he needed a bit more energy. Again Richard thanked Shuren and watched him walk out of the room. After he didn't hear his steps outside anymore, Richard grabbed the wood he hid under his pillow and stored it away, before getting back to his bed to rest for just a few minutes. He put the bag he got under his pillow as Shuren described and then lay down, the sleeve of Yujins coat by his face. The familiar smell helped as it mixed with the lavender emitting from the little bag. Richard closed his eyes and imagined a meadow he one day wanted to visit with Yujin.
    • He smiled. Now, this conversation was over and with that, Shuren had found out enough about Richard and what ailed him, and a plethora of medication that he could mix the memory loss concotion with, should he not be taking it on the regular. Unlike his son, Richard could use a variety of them to fix all of his ailments and while Shuren wanted to herald himself as his savior, he knew that medication usually was only able to prolong the suffering that persisted within ones body or mind. "I won't, but I'll make sure you get the treatment you deserve.", he admitted, and while that sounded vague in itself, Shuren was merely out to get what he thought he himself deserved - and as such, he had to make up his mind and figure out was he wanted, as well as go through all and any options available to him to foster an understanding for a situation that, for the lack of a better term, could be hopeless to others. "No need, rest well.", he heeded, as he made his way through the door and slipped past it, disappearing back into the shadows of the corridor. Richard didn't need attention, no, but Shuren was more than happy to give it to him and what was worse, he was inclined to provide him with any and all help he could, lest his nuisance of a brother figured out that he had ulterior motives and too many ideas regarding a young man that should have lost his life too long ago. Now, where to start?

Yujin had made his way to the harbor and asked for a few silly things, before he trailed off and gawked at the market and the many things he had to offer. There, he picked up one too many things, all of them small trinkets, all of them for Richard, but even then ... As it had to happen, he was spotted by Quan who - obviously - was showing a girl around, someone Yujin had never seen before and yet, she seemed awfully familiar with him; truth be told, it was stupid to think about, but while Yujin had wanted to go back to Richard immediately, Quan instead had dragged him to the den, where Kun was only glaring daggers at him. Both Jia and Hua were missing, but there places had been taken by random people with no face, none that he recognized - it took a while, at least two small cups of alcohol and a few puffs of smoke, before he managed to escape again and trailed back home. It was getting late and the world seemed wobbly, somethig he accredited to the lack of food and too much opium, but he still waddled home and made his way through the rear entrance of the castle, up to their shared room, but not before bothering a servant with the details for tonights dinner and slipping through the door of his own room to procure a pipe and certain other things. Only then did he silently return to Richard, who seemingly had nestled himself into bed - Yujin could use some of that himself, which was why he took the opportunity and made his way into the bed behind the blonde, spooning him and putting his arms around him in the process. Something smelled awful in here, but he wasn't sure if it was the smoke on his clothing or ... what even was that smell? "Did you miss me?", he whispered.

    • Richard didn't notice that he fell asleep and it was odd that he didn't wake up sweaty and heaving as he usually did. He must have been very tired, but as the day went on without him and the sun climbed up high only to lower down again, Richard just lay in his bed, without moving an inch for multiple hours. He didn't dream or at least he couldn't remember anything. Maybe he already was getting better completely without losing his memory. He felt good that morning, had all those plans and maybe he let himself be pulled down just because of one little setback without much of a reason. Maybe he didn't need to worry that much and maybe he was able to heal on his own, despite the fact that he still felt unsave. Maybe saver than this morning though, Shurens words might have helped, whatever he gave him to put under his pillow might have too or maybe just the voiced promise that Ares would never set foot into Thria let him sleep. There was much more to worry about, much more to work through and regret but for a view hours Richard found sleep.

He pleasantly woke up when he felt an arm around him. No nightmare pulled him back into reality, just a loving gesture that may have spooked him in the first moment, but he soon enough realized that he felt Yujins body against his own. The smell on the clothes he gave Richard was tainted by his own and Yujin himself smelled like smoke, but he still knew him well enough and he was glad. Glad that Yujin took his time, that he only came back after dark and seemingly had met his friends to have a fun afternoon. "Yes.", he finally answered with a smile. He enjoyed the position they had a bit longer before he actually turned around to face Yujin, a smile still on Richards face. "You were out.", he pointed out, placing his own arm over Yujins body. "Did you have fun?" Richard was truly happy, not jealous in the slightest, he overslept the whole day anyway and it wasn't as fun to be around him, he knew that. Yujin needed a break of playing nurse and sometimes servant and it didn't even cross Richards mind that Yujin might have as much as looked at another person. Even then he probably would have understood it.
    • There he was, always waiting for him and not running anywhere, smelling like him at the same time as smelling not like him at all and enveloped in a floral scent that he couldn't pinpoint. Yujin had taken his time and lost track of said time the moment he entered the den and disappeared within it's cozy confines, the wooden rooms with thin paper seperating one from the other, surrounded by people in a jovial mood - and by Quan, proclaiming to a woman that he loved her more than anything in the world, only to have her drink dumped over his head and shrieking laughter in his ears. It was fun, but even then, Yujin was hungry, and he figured that Richard might be, too - even if he wasn't the one that had smoked his brains out and was currently smiling like an idiot, but ... "I like your smile.", he suddenly spoke, smiling back while closing his eyes for a bit, now that he was facing Richard. He was a bit out of it, he knew that himself, but he still had his arm wrapped around him and was rubbing his cloth against his skin, drawing small circles as slow as he could, as he if he wanted to make up for the fact that he had left for so long and not gotten much done. Today wasn't his day, but even then, Richard seemed ... happy? Was it because of some alone time? Or because he had come back? Yujin didn't know, but it made him smile even more - Richards happiness was his own.

"You can smell it, yes?", he chuckled, and he was amused by the fact. Without much of a warning, Yujin came closer, pressing their foreheads together and rubbing his nose against Richards for a bit, as best as he could like this. "Yes, lots. Quan was being an idiot as usual, he got a drink dumped all over him, by some girl he brought and Kun chimed in. I think they are having a little fight right about now." There was giggling and amazement, and even then, there was tinkering in Yujins clothing, since he'd just stuffed all of the things he'd bought into them and not gotten rid of them, but it wasn't too annoying and in truth, they were all for Richard anyway. But that wasn't the point right now, Richard was what was most important at this instance. "I missed you, though. I didn't want to be gone for so long ... did you have a nice afternoon? Did you sleep well?", he coyly asked, but his mouth was still forming a gleeful smile and his demeanor gave off as much. Wasn't he being an idiot like this? It only suited him in one too many ways, though, and if he was honest, he liked the fluffy feeling the opium had given him, as well as a few droplets of alcohol. "Can ... Can I kiss you?", he suddenly had the gall to ask, but even if the answer was a no, Yujin wouldn't be taken aback by it, in fact, he was far from something like that. "Also, did you put on some new perfume?" Richard never wore any, or did he? "Or get a fresh pillow?" Fresh pillows didn't smell like that.
Looking back, it maybe is like the toy carts you rode when you were a kid. But those toy carts could never go beyond the walls of the lawn. We want to follow the rugged concrete road beyond the wall. As we've grown, we've decided to leave behind the toy cart.
    • Yujin was very obviously high and possibly also drunk judging by the fact that Richard smelled alcohol as soon as Yujin opened his mouth. Richard was glad about the fact that Yujin had fun and that he did something today that was more appropriate for him. He spent enough time in this stuffy probably too warm room, he spent enough time with idling around in bed, because Richard didn't want to go anywhere else and he spent enough time doing jovial tasks like dressing Richard up or combing his hair. The blonde was pretty sure that Yujin didn't mind all that and yet he would be alright if Yujin chose to vent around his friends, about the guy he had to take care of and that it was a lot of work. Of course Richard wanted Yujins friends to like him at some point should they be a couple of sorts again, but right now Richard wasn't fit enough for that. He couldn't meet them, he couldn't spend time with them, but Yujin very much could and should, even when he grinned like an idiot right now and Richard wasn't sure what to expect from him like this. "You have told me that before.", Richard slowly answered. he felt Yujins arm on his back, even though he couldn't quite pinpoint it's location, he however heard their clothes ruffling as they met.

"It is very apparent.", Richard nodded only to be a bit surprised that Yujin came closer all of a sudden to put their foreheads together. "So they still didn't confess to each other?", Richard carefully asked. He remembered all of waht Yujin had told him about them, it hadn't been much, but he knew that thy both wanted each other and no one said anything. It was nice to gossip a bit, it felt normal and was a much better topic than the usual whining Richard had to offer. When Yujin moved there were some sounds and Richard wondered what it was he brought with him, but he didn't ask for now. "No need to worry about me. I seemed to have slept for a view hours, without any nightmares.", Richard answered and it surprised himself too. He didn't know if whatever Shuren gave him truly calmed him down, or if it was just coincidence and the fact that he had felt incredibly tired. Yujins sudden question took Richard aback however and it took him a few moments to find a response. "You're drunk...", he pointed out and while he didn't mind a kiss, he feared that Yujin wanted much more than that. He knew him when he was high and drunk, that brought them together in the first place, but right now Richard didn't want another situation in which he had to ask Yujin to leave, because he was reminded of something stupid. "Hm? Oh... Your father came by and gave me this.", Richard explained after he understood hat Yujin was on about and then let his hand slip under the pillow to reveal the little bundle of fabric and seeds that gave of a distinct smell.
    • Wholly warm and cozy, like this, nothing felt like it was out of the realm of possibility but even then, Richard didn't share that sentiment and Yujin was the one that might have been reminded of something, of days past that were long gone and irrecognizable at this point, but it wasn't worth mentioning, it never had been and what good did it do if he remembered something awfully silly now, when Richard was the one that wasn't drunk or high? "And I'll say it again.", he declared, obviously not aware that he had said it before, but still feeling as if he governed the world like this, as if he won Richard over with his dashing, grand smile and the promise of protection that he, one way or the other, couldn't exact like this. Sure, slacking off for one night wasn't bad, but he would pay the price in the morning and while Richard had said he slept well, Yujins fingers found their way to his face, brushing away some hair, and pressing the back of his hand against Richards cheek to carress his warm, sleep-drunken face. It was a lovely sight and for once, it seemed like Richard actually rested, had gotten a good nap in and wasn't feeling horrid or up to wake someone up. There, however, was silence as Yujin lost himself in between those thoughts of brown doe eyes with long lashes and rosy lips with a lovely smile on them - he didn't kiss him, not yet anyway.

"No, they are idiots. I swear, it's just funny to watch. I told Kun to confess to Quan already, but h doesn't want to an it's the same with Quan. Two idiots, can you believe it?", Yujin answered and grinned about it. This was mindless and nobody heard them, but if someone was a competition to Yujin in terms of being Silesses biggest whore, it would definitely be Quan, who overshot him by the thousands - too bad Kun had a raging boner for him, or at least was lovedrunken enough to see past all those things. "I'm glad. You deserve that. Dreamt anything nice?" It was fine if Richard wouldn't have dreamt anything at all, too, in hopes of realizing that, whatever happened, he was safe here and Yujin would keep all those bad thoughts away as best as he could, even when he wasn't there. He ran his thumb over Richards cheek at this point before he was told off, but he took it with a chuckle. "That I am. And high. And hungry. I told the servants we want something to eat before I came here.", he elaborated, and he was sure that Richard hadn't eaten all day, even when Yujin wouldn't hear his stomach rumble for food. Instead, he watched the figure in his arms move, and for a moment, caught himself picturing him as he was in the baths, unclothed and wet, and - ... for a second he felt warmth rise in his cheeks, but he shook his head. What a stupid thought. "My ... father? Shuren!?", he blurted out upon seeing the small thing that Richard procured. Then, he giggled. "I had one of these ages ago! Keep it safe, it's going to help you sleep. But it's new, your hair smells like it." As if to prove it, he took a strand of Richards hair and smelled it, before letting go of it. Then, Yujin undid his own hairdo to grab one of his own strands - and flood the bed with a sea of black hair - only to put said strand between his nose and lips. "And now I have a beard!", he suddenly blurted out, still grinning like an idiot. Then, he grabbed another strand of his own and put it between Richards nose and lips. "You too. Though, that doesn't quite suit you."

    • Seeing Yujin happy was obviously a good thing but at the same time Richard felt bad because he denied him fun times like that for over a month. It seemed like Yujin needed something like that and Richard wouldn't mind if he went there every week to let off some steam. Still, he was a bit overbearing right now and Richard wasn't exactly sure how to handle him while he wasn't on the same level. Richard was still a bit tired, he also was happy for Yujin and liked to see him smile and chuckle though... he mostly was. He had something to talk about though and he did something he would have done more frequently if not for Richard. Richard took the small gestures, the brush over his cheek and the other soft touches. It felt nice, but he still was hesitant of giving Yujin much more than that. He imagined a kiss sloppy and a bit to eager right now and he wasn't sure if he could handle anything more. It reminded him of what had pulled him down before, about his worries that he wasn't good enough for Yujin and couldn't provide him with what he wanted. Suddenly he felt like he should just give himself a push and make Yujin happy.

"Maybe Kun just needs someone to make Quan jealous with." Richard suggested with a smile, for some reason he truly liked this topic. It was irrelevant and didn't involve Richard or Yujin, that was somehow nice to talk about and Yujin gladly and excitedly reported about it. "I don't remember any dream. When I fell asleep I imagined the meadow I want to show you some day.", he ended his own report, but that was pretty much all he did, besides the medical visit he got from Shuren. Yujin didn't seem too upset about not getting a kiss, sintead he chuckled, yet Richard wasn't sure if he truly didn't mind. "Mhm... I haven't eaten yet.", Richard confessed, he also hadn't taken his medicine yet, it usually made him hungry and he knew he had to eat to get better. He still didn't have enough on his bones, he knew that very well. "Yeah, he was here for a medical visit I guess. He also said he'd give me some ointment for the scars.", Richard elaborated, not mentioning the medicine Yujin also got and Richard got offered. But if he took it, maybe he was able to go out with Yujin like he did before. Said prince had a different stupid idea though and made both of them a beard out of hair. Richard let him and looked at the drunken and high mess in front of him. "It doesn't suit you either. In fact I haven't seen any Thrian with a beard to be honest, besides my grandfather at times."
    • Right now, he wasn't much more than an obvious mess. Yujin was lost in his own world and to him, Richard was a constant in that, something like an anchor that was always where he needed him when he searched for him - it was nice, but even then, he missed that silly banter with him, back in the den, and somehow he even missed getting mad at Quan for robbing him off his boyfriend, which he obviously hadn't been, but he suddenly recalled being awfully jealous over something that eluded him. Weird. "So, you want Kun, who's been head over heels for Quan, to make out with someone else? He can't kiss Jia tho, but I guess it's enough if he finds someone random that's interested?", he cooed and then wondered what kind of person he'd pick. Kun hadn't date anyone before, not to Yujins knowledge, and with all that he was thinking about, all that he could come up with was someone as plain as himself, someone meek and small and lovely and ... too many things. "What do you think? What kind of person would someone like Kun be interested in, if not Quan?", he asked Richard, continuing their silly banter from before. There didn't need to be a kiss, or much more than that, he was happy to just be here with Richard, and he also was happy to listen to him, telling him all of those newly discovered and amazing things.

"A meadow? Does it smell like that fabric?", he wondered. Whatever a meadow truly was, Yujin wanted to see it - he could only think of tall, green grass, swaying in the wind with countless of different flowers and the wildlife buzzing around them. A meadow sounded like heaven, like a save haven, and Richard made it seem like it was a good place to dream of. "I figured, dork.", he chided the blonde, but even then, he did nothing except ruffle his hair for a bit - Yujin didn't know himself at this point, but he knew, like a toddler, that Richard was sensitive and deserved to be treated with respect, that he was hurt and still ailing, still recovering from all the pain that this world bestowed upon him. There was nothing else, and in truth, Yujin was happy that they could spend moments like this, together with one another. "Oooooh, they always smell very nice! And they help! Oh, and I can help you put it on!", he proclaimed, and the happiness didn't stop seeping from his every pore, despite the fact that Richard would probably appreciate a calm night as well, one where his beloved wasn't being an idiot because he hadn't even eaten some candied fruit to stave off the liquor and opium he'd ingested. "Not even your dad? What's your grandfather look like? Oh, oh! I have something for you!", he trailed off, all of a sudden, and fumbled with something in his clothing, before he procured a tiny ... marble? No, it was a pearl, in fact, it were a few grey pearls on another piece of fabric that, all in all, made up quite the elaborate hairtie. "I found this and I thought it'd suit you, since you have longer hair now." But it didn't stop there, no, he grabbed something even more ridiculous out of his pocket, which ... was a tiny, stuffed bear. "It isn't your birthday yet but, uhhh, I saw it and I thought you'd ... maybe like something to cuddle with? Oh, and! I also brought my pipe! Do you ... want some?"

    • "Are Thrians so picky? I he'd ask someone out they would probably say yes, right?", Richard asked and wondered if he viewed Thrians in the wrong light. Maybe so, but it also didn't seem like they wanted to hold off when it was about a little fun. Well Kun should maybe like that person, then again they would just be used to make Quan aware of Kuns not everlasting availability if he didn't come forward. Maybe Richard just shouldn't get involved though, yet this banter was only for fun, right? "I guess if he likes Quan he wants someone strong and open minded that pulls him into trouble with him, because on his own he'd never come? Someone a little pushy? I'm not sure if Kun cares about looks very much, but I've only met them a view times and it's been a while." In actuality he had not much of a clue about Yujins friends. He knew their names, that was about all. Kun was probably the smartest of the three Richard met, while Jia seemed to be the most mature, but he also was the oldest. Quan was simply an idiot as it seemed. Richard didn't think too highly of him from the start and when he learned about his involvement with Yujins accident, he thought even less of him.

"Mh... kind of. But there are many more flowers with different scents on a meadow.", Richard explained while he stuffed the fabric back under his pillow again to keep it there. maybe it truly helped him sleep, if so, he'd keep it. "Yeah, I doubt I can reach every spot of my back on my own.", Richard smiled. Yujin didn't need to do that but he was well aware and wanted to anyway. Richard learned that about him already. "No, Nayantai never wore a beard as far as I remember and...", Richard was interrupted by Yujin before he could continue and he watched him pull something out of his clothing. Yujin brought home a present as it seemed. He was like a kitten and Richard feared he'd bring something along every time he went outside. "That wasn't necessa-" Yujin wasn't done yet, he got something else which was a stuffed bear. Richard didn't need to remind Yujin that he wasn't a child, but he still didn't quite know why Yujin would gift him something like that. He had Yujin to cuddle with, but he still gladly accepted the present. The third thing he pulled out was his pipe and Richard hesitated still. Yujin proposed that before, but Richard didn't have a good feeling about that. Then again, maybe if he calmed down a bit he could offer Yujin more than just laying in bed and talking. "I... I think I should eat something first. And you too."
    • Yujin thought the bear looked cute, that it looked like Richard and that it was precious, and now, he was handing over a precious thing to a precious person, as he should - Richard would keep that little bear safe, Yujin knew that, but he also liked cuddling with him just like that, or waffling on about something truly ludicrous like Kun‘s love life, something that neither of them were involved in. “You can’t just lop an entire country into the same category.”, he giggled and then shook his head. Surely, different cultures led to different customs and opinions about certain things, but even then, they were mostly different and gave him a vague idea on a variety of other things, on things he’d never previously thought about. “Not many of them, but you’d not sleep with me if I was a stranger, slapped your ass and asked you to fuck, would you?” Not that Kun was capable of doing that, but Quan had picked up some drunk people like that before and it was less than impressive. Surely, Yujin wasn’t like that and Richard either, but Yujin simply nodded upon receiving a description of Kun’s potential prince or princess charming. “Mhm, that seems about right. But also, do you want to meet them again? Not now, but when you’re feeling better.” A bunch of drunkards couldn’t protect a forlorn prince, however, but whatever could happen out here?

“Do you like meadows?” Yujin wasn’t sure what to think of them, but he had one silly thought after the other and whatever his hazy mind tried to sell him as a meadow, he accepted as the most peaceful place on earth. “Haha, that means I get to tickle you lots when you least expect it!” That wasn’t true, but he still wrapped his remaining arm around Richard and then shook his head, seemingly getting some sense into it for a second. Yujin was somewhat tired, hungry too, but those were no manners, were they? “If you want me to, I’ll be sure to take care of you. I’m glad you trust me.” Then, he was back to talking about silly things, like beards. “Go on. Hm, I mean, your dad would … what’s he even look like?”, he suddenly blurted out, not knowing who Nayantai was it seemed and even then, all he could distinctly remember was Richard, who had hardly changed and yet, completely changed at the same time. The world wasn’t fair and their perceptions of one another ridiculous. “Do you like them? I mean, you have me, but, I … you know, I like you, and I can’t bring you outside with me, so I … wanted to bring the outside inside, so you’d have something from the trip, too. I’m sorry if I’m too much.” Yujin was admitting to that, and while he still giggled and wasn’t sad in the slightest, the mention of food made his own stomach procure a noise. “What’s your favorite dish anyway?”
Looking back, it maybe is like the toy carts you rode when you were a kid. But those toy carts could never go beyond the walls of the lawn. We want to follow the rugged concrete road beyond the wall. As we've grown, we've decided to leave behind the toy cart.
    • "I guess you're right...", Richard mumbled as he watched on and studied Yujins face to figure out what was going on in his dazed head. His eyes didn't focus on Richard quite right and he giggled almost constantly. Richard remembered the time he went to the den with him and that Yujin often times was for some reason in a bad mood there, especially when his friends started to talk about old stories, or Richard gave his attention to someone else, even if it was only Kun with whom he played a game. Maybe Richard wasn't the best choice for Yujin, it seemed like whenever he was around, Yujin wasn't himself to some degree. He either locked him up in here with him, or he made Yujin feel different around his friends. "That is kinda.... what happened though.", Richard mumbled when Yujin argued that not anyone would just sleep with a cocky idiot. They both had been drunk and high for their first time and afterwards too. Yujin also slapped Richards ass at least twice. He almost punched him for that too. "Meet them...? Maybe. Someday.", Richard answered knowing very well that that wouldn't happen anytime soon.

"I didn't pay much attention to them. But since I am in Silesse I guess I miss the flowers of my home. At the castle we had a big garden as well, with all kinds of flowers.", Richard answered. He wouldn't have gone out to lie down in a see of flowers. That would have been boring to him, but when he came back home the first time, he enjoyed being outside and in the buzzing woods. Now he missed the flowers too and the smell of lavender was giving him a fuzzy feeling. "I trust you Yujin.", Richard simply answered him despite the tickling. "My dad...? Uhm... you were scared of him.", Richard described him, unsure if his father was the best of topics, or if too much talking about him would trigger something inside of him he didn't want to touch. He needed at some point, but maybe not now. "Yeah. Thank you. But you don't need to think about me all the time. I was fine on my own and I want you to have fun with your friends." Then Yujins stomach started growling which made Richard smile. Their food was probably delivered to their doorstep soon enough. "My favorite dish? Hm... maybe some roasted meat? I know yours is probably tooo spicy for me."
