    • How late was it even? He only recalled waking up at some point after sunrise to find an empty bed - at first he'd tried grasping for Richard, figuring he'd just inched away, or maybe he was already busy getting up, but when he finally opened his eyes and found the window ajar, he grimaced. There was no reason to, neither of them were obligated to stay the night with one another but ... it still felt bad, almost as if he did something wrong and while Yujin generally wasn't someone to get mad, maybe he was - moreso at himself than anyone for not keeping his eyes open and keeping the blonde in place. Whatever, did it really matter? Instead, he forced himself up, gathered his belongings and put some clothes on, before stumbling off to the bathroom - he doubted that nobody had heard them, yet nobody spoke of it and he was glad that he at least got that for himself, even when he spent the next few days inside, cooped up and all the while just ... oddly enough blaming himself for ... what, exactly? He couldn't help it, he didn't know either way, but he was fairly convinced that Richard would have stayed if he just had kept his stupid mouth shut and this was getting him nowhere! It was better to waste his thoughts on possible presents for him and actually getting a servant to relay all of these things to the appropriate people instead of breaking his head over the actual problems that this relationship, obviously and painfully, sported. Wouldn't it be better to just give up on all of it regardless? Not that it mattered, not that anyone cared and even worse, he'd forced himself into this. For fucks sake. What was he so worried about? The day eventually came and he wasn't even sure if he should bother asking if he could leave - Shurens somewhat obvious answer was a distinctive "no", almost spoken with incredible glee and a chuckle, one that Yujin felt even worse about than all of the things he normally found himself struggling with. Sure, Richard had said that he wasn't going to be angry at him and that he wouldn't mind if he broke the promise, yet, he still felt like ... what even?

Was throwing a tantrum enough? Was it good enough to yell at his dad for being an insufferable toddler with too much power? None of that sounded like it would actually get him out of this stupid, frozen castle and maybe Richard was right - maybe this was a frigid hellhole, a barren wasteland filled with nothing but despair and Yujin had just never seen it that way because he was too selfabsorbed to even give it a thought. Was it worth crying over? Not exactly, but it was worth bothering Muhan over, which didn't seem to fall onto deaf ears for once. Yujin still didn't get it - why couldn't his old man just say yes? What he also didn't understand was, when, well, his own dad shoved him out of the castles backdoor and told him to buzz off and not tell anyone. Yujin grumbled regardless - it was early enough for Richard to be back if he only wanted to make it a hourly trip, but once he hounded the village entrance, he found nobody, not even Nayantai, and therefore wandered back to the hut. Was he still mad at Richard? Probably, but it also was his birthday and he had tucked away his present in his sleeve - it was almost embarrassing to wander all the way back to his lovers father and ask for some company, while he was fairly convinced that his own fathers were currently having quite the fight - he ignored it, and instead, he waited for what felt like hours before they left the hut and found no sight of anyone coming or leaving to the entrance, either. "Is he ... fine?", he eventually asked the old wolf that kept staring off into the distance, partially squinting with the one eye he still sported. "Should be, he's just taking ... a bit longer than I'd expected.", he huffed and Yujin suddenly felt like he might as well set foot out of Silesse and start looking for the blonde, just in case he really got hurt, but it was getting too dark for that - and eventually, it was almost pitchblack when he kind of discerned a figure dragging something behind itself back home. The closer it got, the more obvious it was that it was Richard, but it also felt almost as if something was ... "What the fuck?", Yujin sounded and the old man just smiled, up until Richard was all the way up to them. "I said you had to hunt something, not an entire bear! And why are you full of blood already!", Yujin exclaimed, not upset, but actually laughing in disbelief - what on earth! Nayantai was the one that stretched out his hand instead and ruffled through some blonde strands of hair. "You did good ... are you okay?"
Looking back, it maybe is like the toy carts you rode when you were a kid. But those toy carts could never go beyond the walls of the lawn. We want to follow the rugged concrete road beyond the wall. As we've grown, we've decided to leave behind the toy cart.
    • Once Richard got a little closer to town he could make out Nayantai who stood there much bigger than anyone and... was it really Yujin? So he was allowed to leave and was here. Richard was happy, even though he didn't show it and besides, he was already tired from dragging this thing over here and for a lot of other reasons too. His heart being a bitch didn't help, it never did and he always felt like a train rolled over him afterwards. The fight wasn't easy either, it was fucking cold, the freezing blood made it worse and that bear was fucking heavy as hell. Walking the way back home with this thing in tow probably took him at least double as long, probably more, but he didn't get attacked by any wolves, that was a plus and that although the snow behind him was a little pink, because the bear still bled. The first thing he heard however was Yujins voice, asking him what the fuck he did, or brought or whatever. Just, what the fuck. It was a fitting reaction, wasn't it? For now, Richard stopped in front of them for a short berak and talk, before he dragged that thing any further. But he didn't want to stop for too long, lest he'd probably not have the strength to go further.

Nayantai smiled at Richard, was he proud? Richard couldn't quite tell, maybe he was just happy he wasn't dead, after all this took way longer than expected. "I think it hunted me, but I won.", Richard answered looking over his shoulder to look at the massive thing again. "It fell on top of me.", he further explained what happened and why he was full of blood already, probably more so in his face since he had wiped over it without thinking much about the fact that his whole sleeve was full of blood too. "I think I ruined the fur though...", he added kind of ashamed before he looked at Nayantai he almost hissed at because he thought he wanted to help him with the bear. But no, he just ruffled his hair that wasn't as blonde anymore either. Richard was surprised by the touch, the smile and the soft voice, even though he knew him just like that. He was proud, wasn't he? Would Dayan have been too? No, probably mad in case he brought a smaller animal. "Yeah.", he answered, well at least he thought he was fine. "Just cold.", he added. Very, actually, his fingers were pretty numb. "So where do I have to bring this thing now?"
    • Waiting for Richard felt like it had taken an eternity and Yujin was more than ready to just go take a dip in some both water, even if he generally didn't mind the cold, the bloodied blonde looked like he was freezing after shedding a single layer and he wasn't even sure if it was a good idea to direct him to the elders anymore. Regardless of that, however, he was fairly convinced that the many things that were going to happen tonight were just as important to Richard as they had been too him, so Yujin would not want to ruin his experience or spoil it in any way. There was silence for a second - he wasn't sure if he was supposed to say something first or if Richards old man rather said something to his son, after all, he was just any bystander, someone that had been formally invited yet didn't know if he actually belonged. "You still managed to get it all the way here, that's what counts!", the prince exclaimed and, well, he'd slain the beast as well and ruined his clothes in the process, as well as the hide that it sported, but they both were just like they were supposed to be - once white, now adorned by formerly warm blood. "How did you even get out from under there?", he soon wanted to know, but he had to have managed that somehow - after all, he was standing right in front of them.

"It's fine, that's easily fixable and we can figure out what you want to do with it tomorrow, too.", the old man answered, shaking his head. He looked like he was quite proud of his son, and Yujin wondered if his parents bore similar faces when he brought back a fox - not that he should care, not that this was about him, no, none of that applied anyway. Instead, he wanted to get moving. "You should take a bath as soo as you can ... should I prepare one?", Nayantai questioned, obviously confident that his son was going to make it back to the elders alone and then drag this entire damn thing back home with him - and maybe he wasn't wrong, it felt like a Richard thing to complain about getting too much help. "To the elders, I can show you the way, how's that sound?", Yujin suggested instead. He didn't mind if they didn't go back to the palace, but ... it would still be a long fifteen minutes and he didn't want the blonde to freeze to death, even if he couldn't speak that aloud without getting hit, probably. "How about I let him take a dip in the castle? It's not that far and I don't think that warm bear blood is going to last him a whole fifteen minutes before he gets cold again." "It's up to Richard, then - but you two should be on your way, or you'll freeze to the ground anyway." The old man was right, for how long had he even been standing there?
Looking back, it maybe is like the toy carts you rode when you were a kid. But those toy carts could never go beyond the walls of the lawn. We want to follow the rugged concrete road beyond the wall. As we've grown, we've decided to leave behind the toy cart.
    • "Mh... I guess, but I shot like four arrows to random places.", he explained and they still stuck out very visibly, he didn't care about pulling them out, why would he have done that? There was no even surface anymore, if one wanted to get a whole fur out of it, he'd have to hit the head only, maybe the neck, but most of it should stay clean, yet it probably still made a good carpet or blanket. Richard wasn't sure what he'd do with it, maybe just sell it? It didn't have to be Nayantai to bring home all they needed. "I rolled it off.", Richard answered as if it was quite obvious. Well it hadn't been too easy, but he managed to do it eventually, crawling out from under the beast, full of its blood. Well it was bigger than Yujins fox, that much was clear. What about Nayantai? He hadn't told Richard yet, but there weren't many animals bigger than this one. A moose was also pretty big, or one of those Silessian wolves if he was to believe those stories. They had sharper teeth and claws too.

"Hm... ", he just mused, not sure what to do with that thing. What did other wolves do with their prey? "Yujin what did you do with your fox?", he therefor asked, simply to get an idea. Clothing might work too, but the bear was a little bit too big, even for Nayantai and it would be a waste to cut the fur up in multiple parts, right? Richard looked at Nayantai and he felt like he was starting to tremble from the cold already, he probably should get going. "Sounds nice, but... won't you come with me?", he suddenly asked, feeling a tiny bit insecure. Yujin was there to guide him too, but he never spoke to those elders, nor did he think they liked him very much, or saw him as someone belonging here to begin with. The Silessian prince - the younger one - at his side probably helped too, but... Nayantai was somewhat of an important person too, right? And he was important to Richard. In the end Richard very much liked both of them around and if it only was for handing the bear over to Nayantai after he was done, instead of dragging it around another fifteen minutes himself. "Is your father fine with that?", Richard questioned but he did pick up his makeshift stretcher, or at least the ends of it again already. The bath in the castle sounded nice, but he also didn't want to intrude and eventually he felt like he should spend some time with Nayantai too, since he did the ritual and was one year older now. Or was it more reason to go out for a party of some sorts? He wasn't sure about any of this.
    • "If you don't mind, I'll have a look at it later to assess the damage, then?", his old man suggested and it wasn't like he didn't know what to do. Fur and hide was an important part of Silesse anyway and given the fact that they had to hunt for that, be precise in most cases, didn't make it hard to figure out beginner mistakes or something like this, something like a bear that got killed before it could kill its hunter and make said hutner its actual prey. In the end, even that was stitchable, though, it wouldn't be as effective and he would recommend to use it as clothing - cutting it up sounded like a good idea in this case. "You're so strong, it's almost unfair!", Yujin laughed and he knew that he'd complained about that a week ago. However, while Richard wasn't necessarily and overtly strong, the prince was nothing more than a weak, maybe even feeble creature that hadn't raised an actual weapon in years and instead neglected his training, something that would suit him far more. His muscle memory still worked, at least he thought it did, but that was a concern for another day and not tonight - tonight was about Richard, not him and whatever was going to happen would happen because it somehow had to, and therefore, his own feelings and thoughts shouldn't matter much.

"My fox?", the wolf asked, kind of confused before a second, before he actually recalled what his fellow wolf meant - all the while he set himself into motion to not freeze to the ground with the rest of them and get closer to the elders. "I'm pretty sure I had the hide cut up and put into some of my winter cloaks, why?" Obviously because form their current standpoint, Richard didn't know what exactly he wanted to do with his larger than life bear and Yujin couldn't even be mad about it - who knew he'd kill a thing like that? Yujin thought he came back with someone similar, maybe something more tame or smaller, but no, this was Richard and he wasn't going to back down from a challenge, ever, as it seemed. "Actually, I'd like to! I just figured that, if you wanted to take a bath at home, it would be more convenient ... but, I think it's easier if I give you a hand to carry this thing home later.", Nayantai concluded, patted Richards shoulder and he wouldn't take no for an answer - hurling the carcass here, to the elders and back home would simply be too much, especially when Richard was supposed to be the one that would be pampered, it was his birthday after all and even though the old wolf wasn't the best cook by any means, he had figured out a surprise for Richard ... sort of. "You taking a bath? I asked Muhan to ask him and since I didn't hear a no, I assume it's a yes ...?" Not that he heard a yes from Shuren when it came to leaving either, maybe he should just generally avoid both of them for the night - but Richard didn't need to know that. Yujin led the way, towards the outskirts of town, were what seemed to be ruins sat, partially restored, made of worn, slightly painted wooden pillars and stone, with flames illuminating the path all the way to the entrance of what seemed to have been a temple. "I can't help you from here on out, or rather, we can't. Uh. Just drag the bear in there, present it to them, cut it open and enjoy the bloodbath. They likely won't talk to you, the rarely talk to anyone."
Looking back, it maybe is like the toy carts you rode when you were a kid. But those toy carts could never go beyond the walls of the lawn. We want to follow the rugged concrete road beyond the wall. As we've grown, we've decided to leave behind the toy cart.
    • "Why would I mind?", Richard asked mumbling and looking at his father who, today, actually felt like one again. Richard had distanced himself from him, but it got better and today he was glad that Nayantai was still here, that he wasn't alone and he also felt bad for dragging him into his revenge, knowing that he wouldn't back down from that if Richard went back to Adrestia. He didn't want to think of that tonight though and he was kind of glad he did the ritual. "I mean I am, but I think I was lucky too..." Or unlucky in that case. He probably would have hunted something smaller if he hadn't passed out and a whole train of events followed because of that. He wouldn't have tried to find the penguins in the first place, because he would have had time to catch something better than a waddling, stupid bird that couldn't even fly. Maybe he would have hunted a fox too and he would have been fine with a rabbit too. It seemed like Yujin and Nayantai thought he chose to hunt a bear - well he didn't.

Richard pulled the dead bear after himself and followed Yujin to where ever they would find the elders. He never met them, nor did he look for them. He figured that clothing was an obvious choice for Yujin though, or probably anyone. Maybe Shuren made a pillow out of the feathers of his swan? Who knew? "Do you still have it?", Richard asked, but the answer was probably yes, after all Yujin turned eighteen only a few months prior, right? Richard wanted to ask Nayantai too, but he decided to ask him later, once he was done with his own ritual and decided what to do with that heap of fur and game. "Thanks... dad.", Richard mumbled, happy about the fact that Nayantai followed them, but a little bit freaked out by the touch. He didn't mind it, it was just... odd. Everything felt a little weird, but he just took it as it was, just a nice gesture. "Well if it's alright... I'd need to borrow some clothes then though. Maybe you can join us for dinner at home then? I'm hungry... I haven't eaten all day. Would that be fine?", he first asked Yujin, then Nayantai, but he still wasn't sure what the appropriate course of action was after all this and it showed. If anything he didn't want to leave his dad hanging today, so Yujin better let him out of that bath again. Richard followed both Yujin and Nayantai to the elders first though and he stopped in front of what looked like a ruined and ragged old building. It didn't look like a place people lived in. "Uh... okay?", Richard answered, picked up the bear again and started to drag it inside.

Once he got there he looked at three old figures, not sure what to do or to say. He wasn't even sure if they knew who he was. "I... uh... turned eighteen today.", he simply said, taking a step aside to give them a clear view of what he hunted. He didn't get an answer even though he waited for a view minutes. Once nothing happened he just took his knife to make a better hole into the bears flesh, somewhere by its neck where it would have been cut open anyway to led it bleed out and to skin it later. He took the blood, put some more on himself and wasn't sure if he did the right thing. Well anyway, after that was done he simply nodded and went outside again, the bear in tow. "That was... uh... odd...", he concluded outside scratching the back of his head. "They didn't say a word... not sure if I've done it right." Well anyway, it was more about the hunt than some stupid old people, right?
    • Now that they had relinquished Richard to the elders, only time would tell how he'd fare - Yujin had spent what felt like an eternity in there, he knew that, but he wasn't exactly sure why he did so in the first place. What had held him up for so long? A confused gaze met that of the old wolf, or at least tried to, but instead, the old man just looked at the building for a bit too long. "Did it ... always look like that?", Yujin asked instead, not knowing what to make of it. It was unlikely that it had been ravaged by the war and to think of it as something from ages past was the only thing the young prince could muster. Theoretically, there was no way of knowing for sure, but figuring it out for himself wasn't a bad idea either. "It always looked like that, I think it's ... very old. None of these structures exist anywhere else in Silesse and I'm sure they were here before any of us." They'd also not disappear overnight, but a neat thing was that, almost as if the wind had gotten too strong, all of the lights that had illuminated the path seemed to be blown out when Richard passed them on his way back out. Magic didn't exist, no, yet, it was too in-sync to be a mere coincidence - someone was stalking through the dark, most likely, just to get rid of the candlelight and make the scenario as magical as possible.

"You look like you threw yourself into a lake of blood!", Yujin laughed. That he did, but the clothes were probably ruined forever - still, it was nice to remember them and maybe one could make something of the scraps and the fur that the bear bore. Large it was for sure, but Yujin also figured that it didn't matter much - it would have to fit Richard somehow. "They never talk to anyone.", Nayantai explained, shrugging his shoulders before taking a look at the bear. It didn't matter if he got his clothing dirty now, he could wash it and there still was food at home, in need of some final touches. "No need to thank me, really. And Yujin is welcome to join us whenever, I figured that he could anyway. Either way, get a bath before you get cold, alright? I'll take the bear and be on my way.", the old man concluded, yet he smiled at Richard, kind of softly - he seemed proud and a tad bit livelier than usual, but that wasn't too bad either. Shortly after he'd said that, however, Yujin grabbed the blondes hand. "Thank you! We'll meet you then, I promise not to keep him occupied for too long!", he told Nayantai and already was off with Richard, back to the castle - he couldn't pick him up and carry him around, but holding his hand was fun too, even if he didn't want to waste much time. "You mean the fox cloak? I'm sure I do, want to try it on, then? Since you're in the need of some clothes anyway. Oh, also, I have something for you ... two things actually, so your pick!" The other one he could still gift him when they watched fireworks next week, right?
Looking back, it maybe is like the toy carts you rode when you were a kid. But those toy carts could never go beyond the walls of the lawn. We want to follow the rugged concrete road beyond the wall. As we've grown, we've decided to leave behind the toy cart.
    • Richard wasn't sure why all the lights went out when he came back outside. He wasn't sure if it was the wind, or if it was on purpose, done by someone, maybe the elders. "Did I... uh... do something wrong? Or do the lights always go out?", he asked once he stood in front of Yujin and Nayantai again, looking back once more. This building was somewhat weird and scary, good thing he never had to come back here. Richard looked at Yujin somewhat puzzled too. "Wasn't I supposed to do that?", he asked, but for now at least the blood was a little bit warm still and for a minute or two it helped with the cold, only to make him freeze even more right after though. The harsh wind felt even colder with those wet clothes and they started to stick to his body and freeze up again. He was getting cold, maybe that was a sign that the adrenaline finally wore down and he would start to feel his own body again. He wasn't sure if that was a good thing. just a view more minutes to get to the castle and eventually warm himself up.

"How does anyone know you should bring that carcass here in the first place then?", Richard asked, imagining that some person just started it and those elders just questioned why people showed them dead animals all the time. Well it didn't make much sense once one thought about it for a bit, but it was still a funny thought. "Alright. Still... thanks.", he then replied to his dad who smiled so proudly at him, he hadn't seen him smile this genuine, without some form of sorrow behind it since they got here and Richard smiled a little bit too, before handing over the bear. Yujin grabbed Richards hand shortly after and he let himself be dragged with him to the castle. He waved Nayantai one last time, then focused on the path ahead as he stumbled after Yujin. He was in quite a hurry, but that was fine, since he was getting colder by the minute anyway. "Me? Isn't that something you should wear?", he asked. It seemed like something important, it didn't feel right if Richard put it on himself. Yujin could though. For some reason he imagined it to be blue, even though that wasn't necessarily Yujins color. "Pick? What should I pick?" He was confused, but maybe he was just tired.
    • "Wrong? No, they just want to spook you or whatever, they always do that! Especially if you come by at night." If there were more people and it still was light outside, the candles or whatever it really was weren't even lit to begin with. Maybe they had just grown bored of all of this and tried to spice it up a bit, or maybe it had always been like that to begin with. Some people changed, others didn't and Yujin was sure that the elders were they same one that everyone knew, ancient and pretty much useless. It sounded weird, almost like a ghost story and the wolf wasn't even sure if he wanted to relay that kind of information to Richard. Why wouldn't he? The blonde didn't seem like somebody that got spooked easily, yet, Yujin didn't want to ruin this moment, not when they were seemingly running away from nothing but the wind itself. "You asked, so the least I could do is show you! And the best I can do is let you wear it, I think you might like it!" The foxes fur was white, a nice winter hide and it was fluffy, comfortable even - Yujin had never worn it, since it had simply been too warm for him, but it seemed like something Richard deserved, for tonight, since they were good clothes anyway and he needed something nice to wear for the night, or at least to drag back home. "I'm glad you're alright, though."

That he was, it had felt like an eternity until he had returned and given the fact that he seemed unscathed, Yujin was just more than glad for no reason in particular - he liked to think that there was nothing much to worry about, that Richard was invincible either way, but they both knew that that couldn't be true. "A present! It's your birthday, silly, but I couldn't decide on what I get you. They are the same size, kind of, but the content is different. Hm, maybe I should just warn you beforehand, if I give you the smaller one, you can't open it as long as you're still here, though!" Yujin felt a knot form in his stomach, now that he thought about it - that wasn't a good birthday present at all, but he genuinely meant it. Still, he was afraid of what Richard would say once he found himself presented with it - he'd hate it, the wolf was sure, which was why he'd rather not have him open it as long as he could see his reaction. Was that a good way to feel about a present? No, but it hardly mattered when he pushed up one of the backdoors of the castle, took Richard inside with him and then showed him the door to the bathroom. "I'll get you some clothes, alright? Just leave the dirty ones on the floor.", he promised, but before he ran off again, he stole himself a short kiss - he deserved that one!
Looking back, it maybe is like the toy carts you rode when you were a kid. But those toy carts could never go beyond the walls of the lawn. We want to follow the rugged concrete road beyond the wall. As we've grown, we've decided to leave behind the toy cart.
    • "That's weird. Will anyone who is old become an elder?", Richard continued inquiring. It almost felt like back at home, when Richard always asked the most stupid questions while Dayan didn't even care to begin with. Richard always went overboard with this though, had always questioned to much and either got Rain to not know what to say anymore or got Nayantai to tickle him, or bump him in the side at the end, calming him down. He probably had this curiosity from the late king, but he was much more annoying if one was to believe what people told him. "Are you sure that's alright?", Richard asked, but if Yujin wanted something, he got it anyway. Why not wear his coat? Maybe people gifted each other their prey all the time? Who knew, definitely not Richard. "Mh... it tool longer than I planned.", Richard answered with a sigh. "I'm glad you could come though, I know it probably wasn't easy to convince your father." After all it was just about some sheep and his birthday. But maybe the friendship with Nayantai was enough to not deny his son at least one witness that didn't belong to his family. "Were there a lot of people during your ritual?"

Richard didn't question why they used the back entrance if he was allowed in here, he actually didn't want to know. All he wanted was warm up and rid himself of all the blood that stuck to him for way too long already. Two layers to be exact. It would probably take a while to wash it off too and he didn't want Nayantai to wait for too long. "I guess... I'll take the bigger one then?", Richard answered, not at all sure what Yujin got him for his birthday and why he had somewhat of a farewell gift when Richard didn't even tell him that he planned to leave soon. Did he feel it? Maybe. Richard just hoped that the bear was enough prove to make Nayantai let him go. He was strong enough, wasn't he? Richard followed Yujin to the bathroom and the warm air inside felt so good. Yujin stole himself a kiss before he left Richard alone. That was something he didn't expect, but that was fine, especially since a small kiss already made Yujin a little bit bloody. Richard didn't close up the door, since he expected Yujin to come back once he found some clothes for Richard, instead he opened up his clothes that got incredibly heavy by being soaked in blood.

He felt pretty tired, which was why he wanted to just hurry up, but he'd ruin the bath. It would be full of blood everywhere. Was there even enough water? He probably shouldn't just go in and try to wash himself outside instead, at least for the start, or maybe most of the blood was on his clothes anyway. He started to peel himself out of the first layer, then the second and the third was the last he got, since he already got rid of another one to carry that bear. When he pulled on his sleeve however, that was the first moment he thought that something felt wrong. It stuck to his arm somehow and pulling on it hurt, but with all the blood he could hardly see anything and he didn't feel anything before. He wasn't sure if it was the cold that numbed him, or the adrenaline, but he dragged that bear home like that without noticing he was hurt. He pulled the fabric off anyway, ripping it off actually and discarding it, before he went towards the water and held his arm inside, just to wash the loose blood off and see the damage. And he did wonder how he held off the bears claws and teeth without getting hurt - well the answer was he didn't. Once he sat at the edge of the bath he also felt his body get heavier in general. He was incredibly tired, but probably more due to the fact that he had passed out from his failing heart, because he fought a bear and because he pulled that beast back into town for at least an hour, all that while being hurt and not even noticing it. A knot was forming in his chest when he looked at his arm, but not because it hurt or because it looked incredibly bad, but because he was embarrassed somehow - very much so in fact. He wasn't as strong as he thought he was and he maybe kind of ruined the evening for both Yujin and Nayantai, but no... this would just be fixed and then he'd go home. There was another noticeable sting, now that his body stopped blocking any pain to reach Richards brain and he probably bled on his side too, knowing exactly when that happened. He was still fairly certain that he wouldn't die, compared to what he endured during and after the attack, this was nothing, but he knew that it needed at least some treatment. It was the claw that got him while he tried to dodge and when he touched it with his good hand, it didn't feel too deep, yet it probably bled even now. His arm looked a little bit worse and he figured that it wouldn't stop bleeding as long as he held it under water either. Claws, teeth, there had been everything, maybe even a crack in his bones, but it just felt like a big, fat clump of pain, nothing distinctive, but moving it hurt. He didn't quite know how to fix this though and just covered his arm with the other and his side with the hurt hand. Yujin needed to be back any minute now anyway.
    • What was he supposed to get Richard? Something flamboyant didn't suit him, much like anything that wasn't his color and without much thinking, Yujin did procure some layers of a light blue shade, one that the fox garments did fit and once he had gathered them, he made sure to grab a towel as well, only to stash away the gift Richard didn't want - thankfully, but somehow, Yujin felt kind of bad about it as well. What if Richard would have liked it? There was no need to think about it, he probably wouldn't and he was just romanticizing the obvious factor that nothing in his life was going to go the right way anyay. The wolf made his way back, factually took his time because he believed that Richard was in the need of a good soak, needed some time to warm up and he didn't want to force him out of his comfortable bath right now - for all he cared, he could stay in there for an hour and they still wouldn't be too late for the hut, they'd have fun there, and he looked forward to it. The last time he'd been there had burned itself into his head, at least almost - he'd liked it, a lot, and it would have been a lie if he insisted that he never wanted to go back there again - it was much more fun than he initially thought it would be. But ... there still was something else, something he'd swallow down for tonight.

The door was still slightly ajar when he slid in. Yujin neatly hung the different layers on the backside of the door as he closed it, letting them dangle from the hooks and theoretically expected Richard to be undressed, completely soaked in warm water and not ... what was he even doing? The wolf was confused for a second, but he paid it no mind. "Everything alright? You're going to get cold.", he chastised the blonde as he came closer, only to find that there were rivulets of water mixed with blood running down his arm and he was oddly clutching some spots of his body, seemingly as if he tried to cover himself. What was that supposed to be? The wolf wanted to sight, give Richard a kick and just throw him into the water, but there was something else going on that he couldn't figure out at first, until it dawned upon him. He hunched over and grabbed one of Richards hands, the one that was holding his arm, and slowly pried it away from what it was holding onto - that looked about as gnarly as he'd figured. Should he panic? No, no, this was still fine, this was fixable and ... the wolf took the same hand to get a look at the other one, which seemed to be about as ugly and yet a bit more shallow, given the fact that it ... did it bleed more or less? His father always told him to assess the damage first, but Richard looked pale already and there was no damn time for that. "I ... ah ... I'll get a sewing kit. Do you ... need some painkillers? Something to bite onto? And, ah, can you do me the favor and wash the wounds? Please don't pass out!", he stammered, but he was gone in a second and back in what seemed to be the next, with some stuff in hand - was he really going to give this guy stitches? Damnit, he knew how this worked!

    • Yujin took quite some while before he came back, but Richard also didn't feel like standing up, once he sat down and his whole body thought that it was time to rest already. He missed almost half of the day and yet he was this tired and beat, while he also tried to figure out how to keep the blood in his own body and what of which was even his and what the bears. Once he did hear Yujins voice however, he jolted, as if he hadn't heard him come in. "I... I'm...", was all he got out, but Yujin already walked around him to see what was going on. There was blood everywhere, but that wasn't quite telling at all. He let Yujin move his arms and look at the damage, only to apologize immediately, for whatever stupid reason. He was incredibly sorry though. "I'm... I'm sorry...", he stuttered, watching Yujins facial reaction which seemed to represent panic, at least for a bit. Then he started to spout some words, lots of them and Richard just shook his head. "N-no... it's fine-", he answered. He didn't need any painkillers, at least he thought he didn't. Then he nodded and added a "I won't..." He wouldn't pass out, he already caused way too much ruckus. Maybe it would have been better to go home and let Nayantai handle this, then again, he didn't handle Richards neck very well either.

Once Yujin sprinted away, Richard forced his legs to move a little. He was still sitting at the edge of the bath, but trying to wash out the wound and free it from any blood that wasn't his, didn't seem so easy, since he couldn't even tell what was which. He decided to let himself into the water, but before that he got rid of his pants, only the underwear he kept for now. Then he slid in, holding himself with the one good arm he still had. His side, somewhere slightly to the back and below his ribcage burnt, so did his arm, but he tried to at least rub the surroundings clean of any blood that by now started to dry. When he looked down he could see the claws of the bear edged into his skin and he saw some blood flowing out, connecting with the water that he almost couldn't see through anymore already. He probably had liters of bear blood on his body as well after all. Still he thought this wasn't so bad, he wasn't even sure if it needed sewing. As for his arm though, he didn't even no where to begin. He didn't even know which parts of flesh would connect to where. Still he bit his teeth together and tried to wash out the wounds as well as rub the dried blood away from the edges. Was he shaking? Maybe slightly, but he couldn't quite tell why. He assessed the damage himself though, tried at least, holding his arm up, moving his fingers, one after another. It hurt, but it worked, that at least was a good thing, it meant that no muscles or tendons were damaged. He also tried to move his wrist, which seemed fine too, yet making a fist was too painful and his arm shook more and more, the more he held it up. He pressed it against his body again and looked at Yujin who came back. "Help me out please...", he mumbled, reaching out his other hand for Yujin to pull on.
    • Naturally, keeping calm wasn't his forte but Shurens - for some reason Yujin just knew that whatever he saw, he remained unfazed, almost as if there was nothing he hadn't seen yet and his own son couldn't even do that, it was kind of akin to the fact that he lacked practical skills and was only well-versed in theory, yet, that didn't mean he hadn't stitched others or himself up in the past. Yujin felt bad, though, with a clump in his throat and a heart that forced itself against his ribcage in rapid speed - he was worried about Richard, damnit, and he most definitely wasn't sure if he shouldn't have gotten his father instead. Once he came back to the bathroom, the water had taken on a reddish color and that was the least of his worries anyway. Instead, he set the sewing kit aside and just looked at Richard, who actually asked for help - and Yujin wouldn't exactly deny him. Instead, he grabbed his good arm as told and pulled him back onto his feet. Given the nature of these wounds, they probably wouldn't stop bleeding immediately, but Yujin didn't wait for an answer when he made Richard sit down again - he didn't even ask if he could - and instead grabbed a towel to wipe off the blood from his side, carefully patting the edges, before looking for some bandages in the makeshift array of things that he bought.

"Richard, you don't have to be sorry, alright? It's not like you could have known.", he reassured the blonde and Yujin was sure that he wouldn't have looked as good if he'd encountered a bear - he'd probably dead by now and Richard had gotten lucky instead, even if all of this looked as if it hurt like a bitch. Once he'd found what he wanted, Yujin dipped his hands in water, before he wiped over the blood that still trickled from the wound, as carefully as he could, before adding an ointment and then bandaging it - he needed this to stop bleeding, hence why he figured that loose wouldn't be good and he also figured that using something to increase the pressure would be nice. Fuck, did this even work? Yujin had no idea and given the circumstances, he didn't even know if he seriously wanted to - what made it worse was, that he didn't even know if Richard would be up for this. Eventually, he got around to assessing the damage on his arm - which somehow looked worse than anything else. "Painkillers?", he asked eventually, given the fact that he had plenty of his own that he could share and whatever this kit brought with itself. Meanwhile, he did hand Richard a piece of rolled up fabric. "You'll need it, trust me.", he answered, and then just prodded the area around the wound slightly. "Does any of this hurt?", he eventually asked, before actually taking needle and threat and putting it all together in one swift motion. Why on earth was he nervous? Richard wasn't going to die! He'd just bleed!
Looking back, it maybe is like the toy carts you rode when you were a kid. But those toy carts could never go beyond the walls of the lawn. We want to follow the rugged concrete road beyond the wall. As we've grown, we've decided to leave behind the toy cart.
    • When Yujin came back he almost seemed taken aback by the fact that Richard asked for help and when he thought about it, it truly was the first time, wasn't it? Well he knew better than to try and push himself up like that. He already knew that he had only one usable arm, despite having used the other just fine the past fucking hour and a side that would give in as well probably. He let himself be pulled up and eventually stood outside the water again, only to immediately be seated again, which was fine by him. "I mean... I'm just... I don't know. I ruined your evening and I'm... not as strong as you thought. Nayantai will be disappointed too.", Richard mumbled, not sure if any of that made even remotely sense. He was tired and probably in shock over an arm that looked like it almost got ripped to pieces. For now he kept his arms out of the way so Yujin was able to dry the wound on Richards side. It slightly hurt when it got touched, but it was fine overall. Then he watched him get a bandage and some ointment. "Just pull it tight, it'll be fine.", he told the wolf. Even if it hurt, it didn't matter, he just needed to wrap the bandage around him and make it stay in place, that was all.

Once the first wound was patched up he showed Yujin his arm. Richard couldn't make much sense of the ripped flesh however and he wasn't sure if Yujin could. "It's not too bad... no nerve severed I think...", he reassured Yujin however, after all he tried all that and it seemed fine to use his hand and wrist. Just the muscle seemed damaged, but that would hopefully heal with time. "No painkillers.", Richard answered, since he believed that his system wouldn't be able to take that. He hadn't eaten, he hadn't drank much water and he felt like being trampled on even before meeting that bear. He'd probably just pass out or puke if he tried to take something, before getting anything else in his stomach. The loss of blood that happened the past hour or more probably didn't help either. "But... bring something over I can lay it on. I don't think I can keep holding it myself... Not steady at least.", he said, his voice was trembling, he noticed that clearly and so was his arm. Meanwhile he took the fabric from Yujin albeit not putting it in his mouth just yet, it just was some big pile of pain anyway, he doubted he'd feel a single sting from a needle. Yujin was touching it now too and Richard twitched and wished for a wall or something he could lean against. "Everything hurts. Just one... big clump of hurt... actually...", he answered under his breath. So much for proving his strength, but Nayantai would notice, he couldn't not tell him.
    • “Richard.”, the wolf eventually sighed. Ruin what exactly? The blonde was way too worked up over nothing, he hadn’t ruined anything at all! This was just an obstacle to overcome, one that Yujin didn’t quite mind and one that wouldn’t be too much of a challenge either way. It was stupid to believe that he could do just about anything and not get hurt and now that he got hurt, it didn’t matter much either - a needle and a threat was all it needed, then he’d be properly patched up again and could go home. The one good thing about having Richard as his patient probably was, that he didn’t whine or scream or cry, instead he was just himself and obviously stuck in a cycle of concurrent disbelief as well as slight hurt. “You didn’t ruin anything for anyone. And I’m sure your dad won’t be disappointed, trust me. Aside from that, you brought home an entire bear - it would have been a miracle if you didn’t get hurt.” Not exactly the miracle anyone would bank one, but a miracle regardless. Now that Richard got injured however, Yujin wanted to fix it as best as he could, and he’d either need a steady hand for that, or a helping one - but he’d rather not ask Shuren, who’d probably turn this into something bigger than it truly was.

The wolf thought for a while, before taking off his outer coat and then another layer and spread them out on the icy floor for Richard to lay down onto, or rather fall onto if he earnestly passed out. “It’s going to hurt and I’d recommend you take some painkillers after you’ve eaten something, though.”, he suggested and he knew fairly well that Richard didn’t intend on making himself suffer - at least Yujin liked to believe that. However, it also seemed to he apparent that he need some help, right here and now, and not some smart talk. Given the nature of the description, the wolf had no idea, but it sounded more like the new wound wasn’t the only problem - had he broken something? Shuren seemed to be more well-versed in this type of stuff, but right here and now wasn’t the time for that anyway. Yujin was at a loss as to what he could take to spread out Richards arm to keep it steady, didn’t know what to do with himself or anything that was happening in general and then he figured, he’d do it the only way he knew how to. “This sounds outrageous as is, but could you lay down? Does that work for you? Not on the ice, on my coat anyway. That way you’d be able to keep your arm steady and I don’t have to worry about you keeling over. You also should eat something soon.” Or else he’d really pass out from all the bloodloss, given the fact that Yujin had no idea what of the blood was the bears and which one belonged to Richard.
Looking back, it maybe is like the toy carts you rode when you were a kid. But those toy carts could never go beyond the walls of the lawn. We want to follow the rugged concrete road beyond the wall. As we've grown, we've decided to leave behind the toy cart.
    • "Nayantai didn't get hurt when he brought one home...", Richard answered mumbling. At least he thought he didn't, but maybe he just didn't tell. Anyway, Richard thought he was strong enough for something like that, instead he was here now, bleeding, trembling and hurt, needing Yujins help and even asking for it. "I'm sorry. You... actually don't have to do this, I can do it myself...", Richard said. He#d just need to get a hold of needle and thread and then he'd just sew it together somehow. Sometimes he had patched up Dayan, but he never had been hurt like that, still it couldn't be too hard, right? At least it was cooled right away by simply the cold air, which meant it wasn't as swollen as it could be. "Did you... do something like that before?", he then asked Yujin carefully, because he couldn't remember Yujin ever telling him he did. He said he learned about herbs and medicine, but that was different and did only partially help right now. It maybe helped by whatever he put on that other wound, probably something to make sure it wouldn't get infected or he simply had to deal with inflammation.

Richard watched Yujin take off his coat not sure what he was doing, but he probably was hot from the steamy air in here. Richard wasn't even cold despite not wearing more than his underwear, though well his butt was from sitting of ice. "I... maybe I will at home... it's not that bad... really... compared..." It did hurt and the longer he sat here, the more his adrenaline was flowing out of his system, the more it did. His body also reacted on its own, shaking slightly, even though they pain wasn't so apparent in his head. "Lay down...? Alright...", Richard answered looking at the coat and eventually moving over to lie on top of it. He lay down and spread his arm away from his body, relatively straight and just let it lay on the ice. That... actually felt nice, even though he was pretty sure Adrestian doctors always put some fabric between ice and wound to not freeze it too much, on the other hand he was half wolf and didn't die out here, maybe he didn't need extra protection. "I haven't eaten all day... besides breakfast.", Richard admitted with a short sigh. "I'm... fine though. I'll make it home..." When he thought about it he was pretty sure about one thing though. "You sneaked out for me... is why you do this... by yourself?" His arm was still trembling, he could feel it, but there wasn't much more he could do, besides trying to make it stop somehow.
    • “We don’t know that and your dad got hurt plenty of times anyway! Richard, you’re not supposed to be invincible just because you turned eighteen! Getting hurt is fine, it’s part of the process!” Nobody would ask anything and id Yujin was honest, sometimes scars weren’t even that bad - they told a story of sorts and let anyone know that, whoever they belonged to, had seen so much more in their life than anyone would anticipate. Frankly, the blonde was very much worried about the wrong thing and quite obviously unsure were to direct his thoughts to. “You can’t even keep your arm steady, I refuse to let you do it yourself. And if I didn’t want to do it, I would have dragged my father here!” Or another physician, someone that knew anything about sewing wounds, hell, even Muhan! Yujin however felt confident that he’d be doing the right thing, and he was fairly convinced of his skills - he’d tried them out before, this somehow wasn’t the first wound he ever treated, yet, all of the others were blurry, messy pictures at the back of his mind and none were exactly discernable. Had it been his own wounds? A shiver ran down his spine. It probably was. “Yes, plenty of times. Just trust me.” That wasn’t quite convincing, but it had to do and he was sure that Richard much rather was bothered by him than his pesky father, who - of all people - was probably give both of them a stern talking to.

They both had almost died once, Yujin knew that, but he also was sure that Richard didn’t want to kick the bucket on his birthday, just because of a stupid bear no less. Divine punishment was something else and Yujin was sure that none of this even mattered much, or that gods really, truly existed for all the time he deluded himself into believing in them, but this wasn’t the time for that! “You will, at home. Trust me, you’ll feel better.” And he might even get a good round of sleep as well - Richard needed something to knock him out, something to keep him away from all those stupid thoughts that kept him awake at night. Yujin knew that he wasn’t capable of that, but maybe something else was - it didn’t matter either way, did it? The wolf watched Richard sprawl himself out on the floor and waited a bit until he had a somewhat comfortable position and stopped moving all that much - he got on his knees shortly thereafter, just to be in a much more comfortable position when leaning over. “You do need something to eat regardless, and I’m sure you will. No need to force yourself to exhaust your limits, though.” That wasn’t even worth it, and Yujin knew that - if they really were out somewhere, in the middle of nowhere, without the appropriate tools, they’d be incredibly fucked. “Put the fabric in your mouth and bite down on it.” Yujin tried to secure Richards trembling arm in the meantime, as best as he could, as he tentatively tried putting his knee on it, as far away from the wound as possible. “Look, Shuren said no, Muhan kind of said yes and shoved me out of the door. If anything, it’s his fault, not mine - and I’d rather not have you get yelled at by a pissed off swan, okay?”, He sighed and once Richard had stuffed the cloth in his mouth and he got rid of the blood that still seeped out with the towel, slowly pressing it on, over and over again, just to discern the flaps of separated skin. Once that was dealt with, he eventually took needle and threat to Richards skin. “It’s going to hurt, you may grab my knee for support if you’d like.” After that, he actually did start sewing this mess up.

    • "I wanted to prove to him that I am strong enough though... I guess I have to fight him... after all..", Richard replied, but before he could do that his arm needed to heal first. If Nayantai let him go without a fight though, that could also happen on their journey back, it took a while anyway and Richard didn't want to wait much longer. "My other hand is just fine.", he retaliated, that was the only one he needed to keep steady anyway, if he wanted to sew himself together. "You didn't because you don't want any of us to be in trouble... right?" Yujins argument held little value, but Richard wanted Yujin to go home with him, so he was fine with keeping this between just the two of them. Still he felt like he ruined the evening and the mood, by forcing Yujin to take care of him, instead of get going to the hut to eat and maybe drink a little. "Plenty of times?", Richard asked in disbelieve. ow many people needed sewing from the prince besides maybe his brother that, according to Yujin, wouldn't hurt a fly. But Richard did say no more, he trusted Yujin more than Shuren.

"The pain is fine...", Richard answered once more, it was just his body that refused to show that. It wasn't that bad, he got worse and he didn't want to pass out right after dinner either. It was his birthday after all. "I won't... let you carry me.", Richard made clear as if that was his biggest concern right now. Maybe he would have let Nayantai carry him, or even someone like Muhan, but in Yujins case he'd just drop Richard, his leg would hurt and then Richard was the one suddenly having to carry Yujin home instead. Richard looked at the fabric in his hand with a raised eyebrow. "I told you I don't nee--ah!" Yujin putting his weight on Richards arm, that hurt, not a stupid needle. He felt his own arm pulsate and he also had tried to shy away, but couldn't since his arm was secured now. He put the fabric in his mouth if only so he wouldn't scream again and make someone come here. He also rolled to his side, good thing that the wound on his side was on the right and the hurt arm was his left. Richard put his good hand on his upper arm to secure it from that direction, while he then just rested his forehead on the ground and closed his eyes. He only nodded, since he couldn't and didn't want to speak right now. The needle wasn't really the problem, it was the fact that the muscles in his arm twitched on their own and probably ripped apart a bit more, as well as the fact that parts of his arm got pressed against the icy floor. It was all of it together. He didn't grab Yujins knee, he just secured his upper arm and buried his fingers there. Pain on a different place kind of helped a little too.
    • “You are strong! Have you SEEN the thing you heaved back home? Even the strongest warriors get hurt, by the gods Richard, stop it!”, Yujin pleaded and he wasn’t wrong. This would need time to heal, even when he finished stitching it back up and it would be better to secure it, to not let this idiot rip open his stitches and undo the healing process in one swift motion. Stupid was, what all of this was - he’d be fine if he didn’t do this stupid ritual and he’d be even better off if he stopped listening to him! It soon dawned upon Yujin that, theoretically, he was at fault for all of this or rather a catalyst of sorts - in the end, it hardly mattered, yet it hurt. “If you don’t want me to come over, just say it. If you don’t want me to stitch you up, you should have said so sooner. I don’t care. This is not about not getting myself in trouble, I’m just trying to help you, damnit.” Was he even mad at Richard? No, just disappointed that he was using his probably mediocre skills to fix up the fallen prince that lay on the ground for him and he was even more disappointed in himself for clinging to this guy. Either way, it was stupid, he was stupid for subjecting both of them to something like his - and yet, he kept steady hands to fix Richard up. “I stitched myself up, and my brother, and some idiots that ran right into wires. And some more after that.”

Theoretically, Silesse wasn’t necessarily dangerous - the idiots that inhabitated it were, and they did everything they could to make this stupid place more livable. Fuck, what was he so mad about either way? “Me carrying you should be your least concern, really.” Getting something in his stomach to combat both drowsiness and bloodloss, as well as the medicine to get rid of the pain was all that he should worry about - and Yujin hoped that he did, lest they’d both forget about it and just have another night that would … that would what, exactly? The wolf didn’t even know what he wanted, he tried to smile instead, yet, given the fact that the serious expression plastered across his face while he tried to concentrate hardly dissipated, there was no smile either. It took a while and Richards support was great help, but eventually, Yujin had stitched it all up and therefore, this was as fine as could he. Once he was done and put his stuff aside, he got off of Richards arm and wiped it clean, first with a dry, then a partially wet cloth - the water in the bathroom had taken on a murky red and his father was bound to be pissed, he didn’t care. Yujin put ointment on it soon afterward and thought about bandaging it, but it was probably better to let it breathe. “Done. Also sorry about your arm, but … you kind of shake a lot.”

    • Did Richard just get chastised for whining about the fact that he was hurt? By Yujin of all people? He didn't even know what to say and he just kept quiet, he bit on that fabric anyway, so there was nothing much he could say or do. Richard probably should be proud, yet he didn't feel like it and he feared that Nayantai wouldn't be anymore either, instead he would worry sick about his weak son that always needed help and saving and it didn't get better without Dayan around to do all those things for him. He best kept quiet before he ruined Yujins evening even more, but he seemingly already did, when Yujin started to yell at Richard. He didn't say he didn't want Yujin to come over, did he? And he just didn't want him to do something that stressed him out. It wasn't his duty to patch Richard up, but he also didn't want to be ungrateful. Richard still bit on that fabric, but he shifted his arm onto his other to fix it to the ground, only to be able to move his good hand on Yujins knee. He didn't grab it hard or anything, he just had it there for a view moments. He was sorry for saying stupid shit, he didn't want to fight, that hadn't been his intention at all and of course he wanted him to come to the hut. He always wanted him there...

Richard trusted Yujin, he wouldn't have done a better job himself and he was grateful that someone was here for him instead of leaving him to bleed out on the floor or whatever. Maybe he shouldn't have seen this as given though, maybe he shouldn't have expected Yujin to help at all. The blonde was still arrogant, he still was stupid, but he did ask for help, which was somewhat of a big step for him. He did ask Nayantai to help with the bear and he did ask Yuji for help, but now he felt even worse for doing so. This, the pain, the long day and subsequent night, his failing heart, all of that was too much for him now. He continued to press his forehead against the cold ice and he fought back some tears that didn't arise because of the pain, but because of the whole situation. Gratefully his hair hid his face well enough. Richard tried to shut it all out, to forget about the pain in his arm that didn't seem to stop and he was surprised when Yujin was telling him he was done. It felt somewhat good but also hurt when Yujin got off and Richard didn't want to move his arm that started to feel numb, yet still sent waves of pain over him once he moved it. Yujin tried to wipe away the rest of the blood, then put some ointment on and after that Richard raised his head to look at him. Shortly after he sat up, still holding his arm close to his body. "Thank you...", he mumbled after spitting out the fabric. How long did this even take? Fuck... He couldn't go out like this either. "Would... would you help me with... cleaning up the rest...?", he carefully asked, but he was done acting all strong. He didn't want to move, get a towel and water and rub everything off of him. At least he could use some help with his back and maybe his hair, while he cared about his legs and feet himself. "I'm sorry Yujin. I'm grateful for your help... I didn't mean to... upset you..." But he didn't dare to lok at his arm that was probably more stitches than skin.
