While Caelan was still talking Ronan looked at him as if he wanted to desperately get him to shut up, but he couldn't just stop in the middle of the sentence and he also didn't gift Ronan more than just one look, it was unpolite to not look into his mothers eyes who he actually talked to right now. Ronan seemed to have gotten smaller by the minute and Caelan knew that he was about to undermine Darraghs authority with forcing a situation he couldn't just get out of so easily, unless he wanted to really look like an unreasonable asshole. Ronan probably would have gotten into trouble for going with Caelan anyway, so why not make it official and why not making Darragh loath Caelan for it and not his son? Caelans plan worked seemingly, because Ronans mother hopped on the train and raised her voice, announcing she also thought this was a great idea and opportunity, there were probably many arguments to be made. Fhaergus and Alster had always worked together, so Caelan and Ronan ought to at some point, why not strengthen their relationships, checking on the important goods Fhaergus was delivering to them and actually find another noble friend along the way. Caelan was able to provide Ronan with any documents his father eventually wanted to see to act like they've done actual work and maybe he could arrange for a gift because he had been welcomed in Alster for so long. If Darragh got something out of it, maybe he was going to see past any anger.
All eyes lay on Ronans father who had the last word but it already counted three voices against his own. Even Ronan chimed in to bring another argument on the table, finding his voice after all. Caelan just kept his smile, looked at Darragh and waited for his answer. Apparently he didn't need more convincing, although he didn't seem happy about it. He almost looked even more grumpy but seemed to be more angry about Caelan that Ronan and that was a good thing. "Great!", Caelan grinned and nodded, looking at Ronans mother again afterwards. "Maybe I could just write my father a letter tomorrow someday, we could arrange the visit so the both of us can travel together, that would save us some hustle.", he proposed, he was sure his father wouldn't say no to this, why would he. In fact Caelan brought a future duke home for once, the only thing Allard would be concerned with was to make Ronans stay as pleasant as possible. As much as this dinner was kind of weird for Caelan, Ronan would probably be surprised about Caelans home and after this here Caelan was grateful for his father for once.
