And yet, there was the tinge of worry again - the crestfallen expression that James thought he saw in Louis face for a second, only for it to disappear soon thereafter. Ah, this was unfortunate in all the wrong ways. “If you say so, but if you feel like you can’t bear it anymore, we’re all here for you.”, he assured the younger man - he might be a giant, and at times almost too intimidating for anyone, but James was a kind soul to those who deserved it, or had a need of him. Of course, someone l…

James was eyeing Louis, who looked like he probably could use a pat on the back or some encouraging words - anything to get his mind off of the things he experienced, simply to give him some peace of mind, but he also felt as if he would touch on something incredibly touchy if he, at all, were to force himself and his opinion on the other man, or even just claim that he could help him for the time being. There was nothing to be gained or understood from continued silence, though. "I get it, he's…

Someone breathed life back into the tent as they all continued parts of their conversations with one another, ignoring most of their surroundings as it just so happened that Louis had come by at a rather unfortunate time, it seemed. Be that as it may, none of them were inclined to necessarily believe him and soon, another bowl of food was thrust in front of what would be Louis' designated spot for the morning, simply so he could sit and enjoy an early start. "That's what they all say.", James po…

When Josiah had sat down with the others, the mood was definitely dampened, but nobody tried to let them get to themselves - it seemed as if they were perfectly fine with playing a game of pretend for as long as they could manage to, but Jo soon find out why that was. In the end, Conny sat there, eyes puffy and teary, her face barely able to keep up with the stupity happening around her, but she was being encouraged through her tears in some way, and Josiah was sitting opposite of her, dumbfound…

Josiah was blissfully unaware of all that occured around him at the very moment, if only for the night. Even the soft click of the old lock on his trailers door, as well as the head that peaked in were lost on him in the haze of sleep that had overcome him involuntarily. All of this was going to culminate in something other than what they had planned it to be, and it only got worse the more time went on, wasn't it? Tonight, his dreams were almost restless; he wasn't sure why they disturbed him a…

This was dragging on and Louis was overstaying his welcome by now. Why did she let him in in the first place? To alleviate his pain? Alice couldn't help with any of that, in fact, she felt as if she were intruding somehow, yet still managed to make it count in its own way. There was, hopefully, a way out of here for all of them, at some point, in some capacity, but Louis was going to have to stay behind for now. Was he important? Not necessarily. But none of them were. "Look, I don't know what y…

"It is, I can see it in the way you look at me. The way you're starting to act." Lou was starting to grasp at straws, trying his utmost to help himself to a slice of cake that nobody was really willing to share and in the end, he only got his fingers dirty and the coveted piece decorated nothing but the floor. There wasn't some sort of decorum to be had, and Alice sure as hell wasn't going to ask him to have some decency or manners - he knew better than any other person that this wouldn't work o…

Playing with Louis was much easier than trying to get around convoluted constrains to get him to the truth that he desired, so to speak. Surely, this wasn't the only thing or time he came here for, and yet, it probably was something that he'd have to figure out in the end; Alice could and would only help him so much. "Sentimental, that's unlike you. Is it catching up to you, after all this time?" Alice smiled at him, not sincerely or even comfortingly - they both knew that she wasn't out to actu…

For Louis to come here, that had to mean some sort of desperation, but she didn't feel like judging him anyway. Why, even? Like her, he was a byproduct of some mad mans creation, and someone that could, without a doubt, knock the wind out of other peoples sails. It just happened, from time to time, that she - too - felt like playing with him, knowing that he fit nowhere, like a misshapen puzzle piece that should fit in the last indent, yet, he wouldn't; he was warped and deformed, because that, …

"Talk?", she scoffed at him, demeaning and confused. Why did he, of all people, want to talk to her, right now, here and in this very moment? He never spent time with any of them, but she'd heard he came here now, maybe because he was no longer being stupid, or maybe because he could use a genuine change of pace. Whatever the case, having him so close by was still not the most pleasant of experiences to her, especially when she tried to had keep everyone - and especially Louis - at an arms lengt…

"Why, of course! Couldn't be me, ya know.", Roy told him with a grin on his face, as if he'd simply heard the funniest thing ever. Why would he care if some mere idiots fell to their deaths, disappeared forever, and were whisked away by the ringmaster? Roy had been here for a while, this wasn't his first rodeo and it was no use getting attached to any of these guys - more accurately, he hated most of them anyway, for good reason. They were naive and doe-eyed, stupid and childish at times, and Lo…

As they got comfortable in their respective seats, Roy seemed to be quite glad that he had some more company than just Ruth - she wasn‘t boring, she just got stale and angry easily after a while, and as the two had their own differences, they banded together when need be. Right now for example, when Louis, an outsider, actually stayed with them right here and interfered with the natural order of things, or how they should be. Not that Roy cared, he‘d rather have the half-breed here than elsewher…

Every second he wasted with Roy felt as if he was missing out on something, and every question he asked the guy was just worse than the other. Getting an answer out of this guy felt even worse than talking to Louis at times, it was like pulling teeth, like looking him in the eye and understanding exactly zero of the nonsense he always spouted. "Hey, Jo.", Roy suddenly spoke up, as if he had spaced out for far too long, as if there was something that had needed his attention - it never really did…

Louis was being difficult, still, and Josiah wasn't sure what he hated more - the fact that he was being difficult in the first place or the lack of any answer for any question he could have had at that point. Was he supposed to ask them? No, there was something he couldn't do in a moment like this and that was, without a doubt, something that Louis himself probably banked on - not being asked any more stupid questions while tension was running high. There was, clearly, nothing wrong with that b…

"Who even said that!? I'm just ... good grief, stop yelling.", he sighed. Someone had to be the bigger person here and if Louis was tired of the role he was almost always forced to play, Josiah wouldn't thrust it onto him. He knew something was off, something was wrong and that everyones nerves had to be running high - Lou wasn't exempt from that, even if he never acted like it included him in the first place. This was too much, especially for the kids, but definitely for the two of them as well…

Louis even showing up here and then demanding something, like he always did because of course he did, was pissing him off. There was nothing they could do, nothing they should be doing - Leila was dead and gone, he shouldn't delude himself; she died, and even if she hadn't yet, she might as well in a few minutes time. Her continued existence was a miracle, yet a cruel one, but there was so much that he found to be wrong about just thinking of it. Indeed, Louis had let him read that book for his …

Solace was all that a dingy trailer like this could offer in these trying times, and if one weren't atop their own issues, it wouldn't even be that. There was, however, at least an attempt at making everything work out. Josiah ran his hand over Lucas' head and hair absentmindedly as he lay there, swarmed by the confused and afraid, looking for comfort in his broken vestige, ignoring all of his pains and aches as they figured Jo would be the one to hold an answer, a shred of laughter, reassurance…

Was this all there was? Jo wasn't sure if he wanted this, wasn't sure if this meant something - in the blink of an eye, it all was gone, seemingly, but even when Louis shambled past him and he warded those childish eyes off of the horror they'd already witnessed, he wondered if he was simply spitting nonsense or living for the end of days that he grappled with often enough. What was happening here, and more importantly, why was it happening in the first place? His heart rose in his chest, back i…

Being dragged out of the trailer would've been a chore, so he just went out of his own volition - there was no need for him to stay occupied with all that damn book the entire day, but he'd read it. At this point, he'd even slipped it somewhere Louis wouldn't find it if he went sniffing into his trailer, but what did it matter? There was nothing else to do; the book had been gutted for the story it tried to tell, or the lack thereof and Jo wasn't sure he understood - it was almost too convinient…

In the end, Arthur was just like the other kids - all of them were not willing to trust immediately and most of them found the first person that didn't welcome them with open arms incredibly scary. Sure, that was one way to go about it, but there was also no reason to find out why they did in the first place; kids were quite stubborn, much like Josiah himself, and it made him chuckle just to think about it. Now, why would Louis be so hated by them if he didn't fit the bill for their scary storie…
